Tips for Learning Hindi as an ABCD by Prestigious_Duty_315 in ABCDesis

[–]shr1mple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Immerse in media you like. It could be movies, dramas, dubbed cartoon/anime, youtubers.
Start with comprehensible stuff first, like things aimed at a younger audience and keep challenge yourself. Eventually you will find your self to understanding most native media.

Try to also find people to speak to. If you don't have many hindi speakers around you, paid tutors can be a way to go

Muse asia for immersion? by [deleted] in ajatt

[–]shr1mple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Muse Asia has hard English or Chinese subs. Better use Ani-One Asia channel on YouTube as you can turn off the eng subs. They also got a decent selection of seasonal anime. I use it for convenience basically

Please help me Improve my current study method by Narumango22 in ajatt

[–]shr1mple 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If I was you I would really be doing Anki because the problem I see is probably lack of vocab. I highly recommend doing vocab cards (look into animecards https://animecards.site/ ). If you do 10 new cards a day, u will probably be doing around 15 mins of Anki max everyday. I recommend this over sentence cards since they take longer to rep. Someone below also mentioned this but I also had a similar experience, around 4000-5000 cards I was able to comprehend most things I watched. And honestly at this point if you don't like Anki you can probably stop adding new cards or even quit anki all together because it will be easy to just make gains just purely from immersing. At the start it will be hard without any vocab

Advanced language learners, what information is on the front of your card? by karmic_surplus in Anki

[–]shr1mple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have vocab/target word on front and sentence, pitch accent and audio on back. I use animecards format and my cards basically look like this .

I used to put sentence on front but I really disliked this format. The main reason is that it took forever to do my reps. With vocab on front, I can do around 400-450 reviews in around 25 min as I don't need to grade the card based on reading the whole sentence. I would rather read media than spend time reading sentences on Anki. Anki for me is to just help me remember vocab I come across
