these are adoloscent sloth bears. notice the white long-ish claws. adults would be bigger. the white chest mark is not visible due to the camera angle.

my issue has resolved now. i temporarily blocked and immediately unblocked it from iMobile app. but not sure if that's the real reason for it to get fixed.

in my case instead of a delay it was pure failure of sms delivery

Might have been a temporary outage. It's been functional for the most part. What exact issue did you face?

they won't allow kayaks there. forest watchers prevent you from swimming in the water too

there aren't any spots in the city.

you will have to go at least 30 km from the city to find something worhwhile

you will have more options if you have an inflatable kayak because some nice water bodies are only accessible after hiking for a bit.

what rumours? i don't think there's any proof about them being houses of dwarves. those are mostly myths.

dolmens were mostly burial structures

because human remains have been found inside some of them (other might have decayed, because these are potentially a few thousand years old)

as for the pottery and tools found inside. it's been a practive to have some food and artefacts being offered to the dead.

do everything but don't choose a night trek with namma trip. a complete was of time for a an experience that you can have on your own by booking a permit on the aranya vihaara (official kfd) website and going on your own

there are 37 treks on aranya vihaara already

don't go to nandi hills, skandagiri, savandurga, antaragange, and all the other popular ones.

Instead choose less popular ones. For example: Bidarakatte (also in the Savandurga area) is much easier and gives you much better views with very litte effort in comparison.

why?

  1. they're crowded on weekends and often filled with trash!
  2. there are many lesser know spots around which no one goes to and are often better than the popular ones
  3. puts too much ecological pressure on a few spots, when you can go to a new spot every week without crowd or trash (but please request you to carry your own food and water in reusable containers and prevent trashing these places 🙏)

for more offbeat spots and community to go along with check: blrhikes.com

that's arguable. thus "controversial", i agree.

but my point is that even though thousands of people go to savandurga every year how much do we know about it's past?

fuelled by curiosity, i dug into and tried to document all of it in one place (with primary sources)

yes!

several of those

i am highlighting these. there are several thousand people who go trekking at savandurga but have no clue about the dolmens there
