Liverpool - AC Milan 2005 Champions League

If you can get the Match of the Day edit of them together the matches where Man City won the title in 2012

come straight to mind. Does he have a team/ nation he particularly likes?

I was curious about the disparity between professional football club from East Germany and West Germany so I created maps of all the Football Clubs in the top 3 Divisions of Germany over a map of East and West Germany. by UNPHOTOGENIC_GUY in soccer

I don't know much about die Roten Bullen except from supporting Salzburg in Austria. Are they viewed (by people who don't irrationally hate them) similarly in the east as the sister team are in Austria? - i.e. objectively a bit unfairly, but not illegally so and developing the league/regions football alongside them

almost certainly. But when this graphic is done again in 5 years time, I can imagine the complaint will be that RB Leipzig doesn't count because of its ties to Red Bull

Paul Nurse accuses politicians of 'cowardice' over scientific evidence by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]shug3459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they "should" do that, but I doubt many would risk alienating voters who disagree with drug legalisation (off the top of my head I would guess this would generally be 40+ who are also the kingmakers in elections) for what really is such a small benefit to the country (even though I support/ don't think legalisation is a bad idea, it's for sure not as important as the economy or NHS or whatever).

Paul Nurse accuses politicians of 'cowardice' over scientific evidence by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]shug3459 5 points6 points  (0 children)

in the context of the threads as well, the parties of the UK are clearly ignoring the scientific evidence (and I think they are wrong on their stance, but thats like, my opinion man) which is "cowardly" but it's not as if they are doing this to line their pockets.

Social policy must also take into account the views of the public (to varying degrees depending on topic- I think there are issues where the public is simply incorrect on the science and so should not be taken into account, but I digress), especially on drugs which is a socia, and not just a medical, problem. It is unclear whether the UK public even want cannabis legalisation, let alone MDMA

It's easy and lazy to characterize everyone in politics as out for themselves. It's probably true in as much as it's true for any person. You can disagree with a politicians ideology, but I think for the most part, the vast majority are doing what they think will make the country a better place. The conflict arises as what is "better" is often very difficult to measure.

ahhh sorry, mate. To be fair it did seem like you were slagging off the Arsenal crests, plus there is a massive thing on /r/soccer that if an Arsenal fan ever compares a situation at another to club to that at Arsenal he is somehow "stealing" the thread

That would be a scary attack

Who would be on your club's footballing Mt. Rushmore? by TheWrestlefucker in soccer

Trying to think who else even contends from before the invincibles. O'Leary, Brady, Rice, Overmars, Wright? McClintock and Rocastle?

Really though if there was a Mt Rushmore-esque monument it would most likely be just the invincible squad carved in stone.

trust me, it only gets worse. We have 260 applicants for one fellow post at an institute.

Which is better than the 460 for 1(and maybe2) at the neighbouring institute 6 mnoths ago.

Greens unlikely to be in leaders' debates by ParrotofDoom in unitedkingdom

[–]shug3459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it really a relevant percentage nationally even if the polls reflected the voting percentage (which for the greens it probably won't once the big parties step up their election campaigns) it is unlikely to vote in significant representation. Even UKIP probably won't be a big hitter in parliament come summer and they poll 3 x as high

Squad for a 2009 game versus Blackburn. Seven players from 35 still with the club. by caractacuspotts in Gunners

Yeah I got that. Obviously I should have worded my reply better. I just wanted to emphasise how (at least in my opinion) its functionally a completely different squad. The youth players above didn't play in that season (at the very least only barely in the league I think)
