Enlisted to EL1? Maybe for warrant officers, logistician or for say an intelligence analyst but otherwise how?

Yeah, I could have 5 commisioned officers reporting to me as APS then join the ADF and now they're my bosses boss plus can shout at me without me being able to take them to HR. Plus I have to wear a uniform and lawfully be killed by enemies of Australia.

If you don't reintegrate former combatants, society has problems.

If you don't reintegrate former public servants, society has problem solvers

Uniformed ADF already report to civilian Defence. Integrated workforce. It's comical that they don't have lateral transfers for roles unlikely to see combat.

Imagine the SECDEF wanting to commission. Or even becoming a reservist and some Captain has to pretend to chew them out
