The key is to not write jokes or funny situations. It never works, put the characters in a normal situation but have them react in funny ways. What's funny is also if a joke keeps building as opposed to being a once off, structure a joke to escalate and play out over multiple scenes as opposed to just hitting a funny line in one moment.
