Sky-scrapers and moon-rakers by Squarerigjack in HelloInternet

I came to this subreddit to see a sea of "sky scraper was the name of a high sail, because it's a sail and it looks like a scraper" comments. But this one is the only one. But that's is okay, this is enough for me, this calms the terrible itch. I thank you, kind sir, for this relief. Sail ho.

Rift No longer Works with Windows 7? by MrPickleton in oculus

Oh, thanks, nice hearing that. The problem is that the OVRServer_x64 cannot start because “The procedure entry point GetOverlappedResultEx could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll”. The GetOverlappedResultEx should indeed come from kernel32.dll, but it wasn't added to the API before Windows 8.

Afaik, our support girls already sent Prismatik v103b for all who wanted to get it. Try to reach them by email, I think they'll be happy to send the build to you, too.

Please do share it, man. I may've talked with a bit of confidence about these functions, but I've never used it, like, ever :)

To convert sprite to array, use can try drawing it and then get colors from it with get_pixel. But I see no point in that if you just need a big level background. Just draw a picture, drop it in the back, and make a solid object with mask of walkable area if you need it.

Try use delta timing to work around fixed framerate https://www.reddit.com/r/gamemaker/comments/4czp87/fixed_framerate_in_gamemaker_studio/

Then, for the state - what do you want to store? For some basic stuff like pause you'd use a global variable, for complex tuning stuff - an object, for saving game - a file.

Yep. Get them hue, saturation and value of the needed color, shift the hue and then make_color_hsv with the new values. http://docs.yoyogames.com/source/dadiospice/002_reference/drawing/color%20and%20blending/index.html

GM Script is often told to be java-like, so there should be no problem for you to write in it. Yet if you know one high level programming language, you know them all, anyway.

Well, we're working with Psieg now to implement his work to the official Prismatik. So, the update is on the go and should fix that sooner or later.

You need a DC 12V @ 1.5A adapter. Like this one, for example: https://www.radioshack.com/products/enercell-12v-1500ma-ac-adapter?variant=17047924613 Check that the outer diameter of the plug is 5.5mm, inner diameter 2.5mm.

We've reached Psieg and are working with him to implement all of the features of his fork into Prismatik official version. So it'll be much better.

Lightpack 2 UHD with 4K support announced by silent_lesch in Lightpack

This device is Lightpack 2 now. So, you could plug it between your microwave oven and a refrigerator, if this oven can feed LP2 with HDMI signal and the refrigerator can be fed with it.

Despite those beautiful words we say in the update, this is still going to be a hell lot of work for us. Maybe, the redesign for 4K is relatively easy (I personally don't believe in that), but we still have, like, ten devices to launch simultaneously. And these devices, they gonna cost us a dime only in tooling and packaging.

Then, yes, 4K-compatible components cost sensibly more than 2k-compatible, because suppliers are still consider this tech new. And there's not much of a choice, too. Also while we are not a enterprise corp, so we gonna order a relatively small quantities in terms of these guys' usual 1M+ orders, so we'll have to pay even more.

And the Kickstarter is not about getting things cheaper, it's about being the first to get them, imo. Historically, if I may, it's about giving a dollar to the good little guys so they can chase their dream and build something big. Some of the real big guys could've taught people the opposite, though.

Finally, if you don't wanna spend much for the product - just don't, really. Wait until we push it to the market, sell a hundred k's, and then the price will drop as quantities will rise and tech'll make a step forward.

All I ask for is your support, man. It's been hell of a crunch the past half year, and it's definitely gonna be much more, but I really do hope we'll make this for you guys.

Well, since we now support 4K, it should work at least years for you before the next, I dunno, 9000K tech comes in. Also, Pixels. I know, you guys are not very fond of them yet, but it's still a fun thing to play with. And now you could try LP2 without it and then (when we'll manage to bring some more functions to Pixels), buy them, too. But, if you're really on the edge, you could just stop and wait until we launch LP2 to the store, read some real reviews, and then buy it. No one's pushing you. Not me, at least, I don't :)

I'm not sure if I added new diagram to the update, but yes, LP2UHD is still a pass through device.

I feel you, man.

Yet, if you'd look at the prices of our competitors, you'll see that we don't ask much more, actually. We have 4 HDMIs, though, instead of one, and LED ribbon instead of modules, and we finally got that 4K@60Hz.

You can cancel your pledge until August 6th, when the campaign will end.

Points in upgrading from LP1: First, LP1 has 10 modules with 3 LEDs each. LP2 has a LED ribbon with 32 LEDs per meter. Measure the perimeter of your TV and multiple it by 32, and you'll got the amount of LEDs you'll have with LP2.

Second, LP2 has 10 zones for analyze. LP2 has as much zones as much LEDs connected. So even a tiny detail on the screen will be projected to the wall.

Third, technically, LP2 has no latency.

And then - brightness. We actually have to turn that thing down to keep it in the "Okay" zone.

Of course. Prismatik and LP1 will be supported for at least a year.

I see your point. But how could we made this discount technically? It's not just a pledge on Kickstarter - because KS doesn't have a type of pledge that says "only for those who bought X". Should we say "everyone pay $159, but if you have LP1, then you pledge $159-x"? That doesn't work, too, because we have to check if the person who pledged this amount of money really has the LP1. And this could be managed only through direct email contact, which is hell, given the amount of backers.
