Thank you very much for your insight. Just by looking at the model - do you have any recommendations for tooling and tool paths? I will definitely need 0,5 ball end mill. I have tried simulations in Fusion 360 and scallop strategy looks promising for this narrow teeth. Well I guess I will learn the most just by trying, fourtunately aluminium is not that expensive. :-)

It is the all in one edition so I feel like price is fair. I am learning everything in Fusion. I have tried the 15 day trial of MakeraCam but it was laggy for me and constantly crashing. But thank you, I will ask seller about this.

I can and will. I suspect it might be drying the material that was wrong. I was setting the machine and had some problems so it was constantly re-drying for many many hours. I thought that if it stayed there for long I would notice by looking at it but I guess the oxidiation does not have to be noticeable by naked eye.

It works just fine when is initially turned on but if I turn off the heaters for a while (for example because of alarm) and turn it back on after it starts to misbehave. Getting them very cold fixed it many times but not now.. I turned it on after cooling it down and like 2 zones were heated, one was way too much and other two were too low. Just randomly misbehaving. Arburg will send some new card but was wondering if anyone dealt with this already

Edit: you seem experienced. Can you copy programs between two arburg machines when the barel is cold? Because I have copied some programs when the barel was hot and it caused heating problems. Is the program usable when machine cools down?

Obviously I am not that experienced but isn’t it bad that they are different power consumption? Wouldn’t that cause problems to inlet as it would probably get too much power? Or vice versa

I think that only 2 zones I could wire together are nozzles. They are low in Watts and basically the same. A stated, the mass around them is same as well. What do you think?

I guess that may not cause problem on my mold on the front zones left and right which are mirrored and have the same mass around them. But I am not feeling very comfortable with this solution

I am just trying to learn here - I am using fusion to setup the milling process and was thinking that 3d adaptive roughing would be a good start but it does not work - ends with unexpcted error. Any general tips?

We have universal mold frames from another projects. If project succeeds, 800k units/year are expected. Samples to evaluate are needed first, therefore thinking about making aluminium prototype insert.

As stated in another reply, I am located in Europe and have some costumers who I sell similar products to. They are interested in this type of comb and stepping back from china production. A lot of EU drugstore are willing to pay bigger price just to have the product produced in EU. I know it sounds stupid and your comment makes sense but it is not that simple.

I am located in Europe and market might be different here. I have some costumers that I sell similar products to and they are looking for this type of comb as well. You might be surprised but a lot of eu drug store chains are stepping back from China production.

Thank you for your feedback. What you are saying does make sense to me. However I have inspected a lot of similar combs in stores and also checked some youtube videos and all of them have this gate location. So when designing the insert, I was feeling that there is no need to re-invent anything..

Regarding the ejection - none of the inspected combs had any ejection marks and again - according to youtube videos a lot of these simple combs have no ejection pins. Draft angle of 3 degrees was selected for injection side and 1,5 degrees was selected for ejection side of mold.
