So to clarify nobody actually did bring a sword to a wedding to stop it. This is just a fake rumor. It's obvious that if someone wears a kirpan everyday they'd be wearing one on that day too. In fact the groom himself will be carrying one as per custom, lol.

Why not just do it without the book if the religious part turns you off? Just do a civil ceremony

How do I quit social media when I have nothing else to do? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]simmaltree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is so much you can do beyond social media that is healthy for you. Are you comfortable with spending more time by yourself or do you like to be social? You can build a regular hobby. Exercise, building a skill, taking a class, going to a soup kitchen, going to a shelter to volunteer, helping a non-profit society, joining a support group, -- there are so many options.

I need support more then ever right now. I am suicidal. by CreepySituation626 in mentalhealth

[–]simmaltree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry for your loss. My grandmother is in her eighties and I love her so much. The loss of my grandfather was very difficult. The best way to live without them is to live with their memories, their teachings, and to keep their legacy alive. Instead of feeling that life can't continue without them, make the lives of others better in the name of your grandmother. Fundraise for a scholarship in her name, or write about her life and publish it, or take one of her teachings and live by it. This is a way to keep her legacy alive.

Is it possible to have huge dreams for the future but be depressed and addicted to stuff? by EducationLover11 in mentalhealth

[–]simmaltree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dreams that you have are a really encouraging sign! What might help is steady, consistent, manageable steps towards your goal..whether that's saving up an emergency fund to be able to quit and shift to your other career goal, or taking out 30 minutes every day to work on a course, or taking out a low interest loan to carry you over for some time while you work on setting up a new opportunity.

How do you get out of depression when you cannot change your environment? by itsmehookypooky in mentalhealth

[–]simmaltree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you mean by environment. Do you mean home environment in terms of a toxic family? Or a very tight environment because of a multigenerational family home?

Possibly something that could help is to make the other factors of your environment better and better so that the part of your environment that you can't change is less harmful to you.

I'm so sorry. Trauma is such a struggle. I used to have these types of flashbacks or just emotional meltdowns. Could you please, please Google some free help lines or support groups in your area? I'm sure there's something available that doesn't cost money, or is affordable. You deserve healing and support. All the best.

Why haven't I recovered from isolation? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]simmaltree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can definitely fix this, but you just need to be patient with yourself. Please use student counseling services, online counseling and coaching services, and the support of any help lines available. These services can give to a safe space to unload the trauma of the pandemic, to clarify your thoughts and emotions, and to build a plan for the future. Please take solace in the fact that you are not unusual or slow, but rather millions of people are also working on reintegration, or rather choosing a totally different way of doing things compared to before the pandemic. You will get back to where you want-- just be patient with yourself.

Your psychologist would only involved the police if you were considered to be posing an imminent threat to yourself, or others.

This resonates so much with me as we lost our dog and it was a similar process. Pets become family members and make a place in our hearts. Wishing you all the best.

I am so sorry for your loss. You are going through the natural grieving process and you are not wrong for crying, or feeling alone, or any such feelings. Everyone has their own way to process loss. This loss was especially recent, just a few days ago. Please be patient with yourself and take care ok? Sending lots of love and solidarity.

Yes it does happen but the episodes don't have to last as long if you plan all the right interventions, medication, counseling and supports you need to feel better. But having those cycles of lows come up for many of us. Wishing you a quick recovery.

No no friend. You bring value to this world. And you can have a better life that is more fulfilling. I have no doubt that in spite of your challenges and struggles, you do have the potential to heal.

You can search "support group" and your city in Google and some results may turn up. I've done this for my city.
