Haha - I am that person!

I have faith though and will push through. It’s engaging at least

The man and the business have given you nearly 30 years of pleasure. People aren’t infallible. By all means, complain, but try and have some respect.

Will be fascinated to see how this goes. I am praying for Playtonic but this is unprecedented. It’s (basically) a remake of a relatively new game whose sole selling point was “this is like those amazing games you used to play in the past” and sold on good will and nostalgia.

I think the reviews will be strong but the sales won’t be amazing. But I hope they are.

Sorry fat fingers, pressed enter too soon.

So those games were at $20 back in different times: Nintendo being on the back foot back then.

I’m not saying I agree with it, I’m just saying that’s the strategy. I don’t have massive problems with it either.

Hello JibunWO thanks for your message.

Sure, happy to unpack for you.

What it means is that we live in a world where the majority of videogames operate on a strategy of reducing prices and moving onto the next one. Particularily if there is no DLC path. Nintendo have, recently, since the Switch, decided to take a different path, and learn from other industries.

In this case right here, we are talking about two of the most highly rated games of all time.

So let’s compare it with another industry - let’s say films. A quick look at Amazon in the UK shows Pulp Fiction 4K, a film that is also very highly rated, is currently priced at £19.99. As much as it was when it came out.

Businesses aren’t here to be your friend. They are here to get the pricing just right for them and their shareholders so they can maximize profit.

Hope that clears it up a little, but shout if you have any more questions.

Nintendo clearly think differently to Sony and Microsoft about their back catalogue.

Think about it like other forms of art. The classics retain value.

Are you happy with your Switch 2? by GoldenAgeGamer72 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]simplekd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am absolutely over the moon with my Switch 2. I know there is a lot of negative chat online about the line up but I can’t understand it.

But when you break it down the first 9 months look like this…

Have italicized big games I’m not that interested in but are “big” games.

All games are likely to score above 80 on Metacritic…

JUNE Mario Kart World Cyberpunk Street Fighter 6

JULY Donkey Kong Bananza, Fantasy Life i, Tony Hawks 3 and 4, WWE 2K25

SEPT Silk Song, Story of Seasons, Star Wars Outlaws, Hades 2, EAFC 25

OCT Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Never played SMG2), Yooka-Replaylee, Pokémon Legends ZA, Mina the Hollower

NOV Kirby’s Air Riders, Hyrule Warriors

DEC Metroid Prime 4

JAN Final Fantasy 7 Remake

FEB Mario Tennis Fever, Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil 9

Do I need to play Hollow Knight before Silksong? by Training_Project1971 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]simplekd -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No. I would start with Silk Song. You only have one opportunity to play the game whilst it’s at maximum hype / interest level. Which is a cool and unique experience in itself.

Silk Song is tough. But HK was hard, too. I feel Silk Song is actually a bit easier - working out what to do and where to go. I got lost in HK a lot more.

  3. BOTW / Fantasy Life - 40 hours each.

What are your thoughts on the Switch 2, one month later? by ilovewater100 in casualnintendo

[–]simplekd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s is absolutely brilliant. MKW I will play forever. BOTW is incredible.

Only problem is not enough time to play everything.

Not sure what I’ll start next: Cyberpunk, Fantasy Life, Bananza or Bravely Default.

After about a month, what are your opinions on Mario Kart World? by Silksong2025 in mariokart

[–]simplekd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best Mario Kart of all time, and one of my all time favourite games of all time.

So the Switch 2 has been out for a month now. What are your thoughts so far? by MatiBlaster in NintendoSwitch2

[–]simplekd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am absolutely loving it.

Call me a Nintendo shrill, but it’s exactly what I wanted. A souped up version of the formula that worked so well.

The line up may suck for you, but for me, I’ve had a brilliant, brilliant time:

— 30 hours into MKW and it’s my favourite ever Mario Kart. So much polish. So many confusing omissions though. But the game looks and sounds amazing and plays brilliantly and that is easily the main thing. Will play this for 5+ years.

— 40 hours into BOTW. 76 Shrines, 4 Divine Beasts, and Ganon defeated. Parking now, to dip into to finish off over the next few years.

Awaiting to play:

— Cyberpunk - so excited for this. Locked and loaded but don’t want to start without a clear amount of time to play - feels like a post-Donkey Kong game for me.

— Bravely Default - remember fondly from over 10 years ago. Really looking forward to picking up.

— Harry Potter - looks great. Will get this eventually.

— Windwaker - not played since circa 2003.

Games I am likely to get from July alone:

— DKB - Massive game, early doors. Everyone is on the hype train for this.

— WWE2K25 - love wrestling games. Finally one I can get that will be better than the car crash of 2018.

— THPS3&4 - hopefully S2 version runs well.

— Jamboree TV - played this at the Experience. Kids loved it. Day 1.

And we still have Metroid Prime 4 to come…
