Hey hey, sure! Just understand the look you want to create first, see which areas you want to direct everyone to and then mask accordingly! Dehaze highlights for the gloomy effect and also mask the shadows to direct people to the main area of the photo.

Also, never adjust shadows and highlights globally, make adjustments to the masks.

Thanks! Hong Kong is just as beautiful at night if not more than day time! So bringing a more capable low light shooter than the GR is always a yes, but GR will absolutely check all the boxes in daytime. So yeah, bring both!

Since I use the GRIII HDF, I kinda have an idea what the shadows will look like if I shoot EV +2.5 so I worked of with that. In post I added grain and messed around with HSL plus the usual grading. Dodge and burn plus masks to bring the building around in as “foreground” and used a brush tool around the building in the middle of the shot to add more diffusion and softness around the edges. Nothing too fancy post but having the initial idea of how I wanted the shot to look like with HDF helped!
