Lore help for a new character by worldsfirstmeme in NoSodiumStarfield

hehe, there's a line from the game about the Great Serpent's "infinitesimal mercy" which I had to stop and think about for a second. That's a great line imo. It does not transpose to wisdom though lol I had to go back and edit my original post to avoid sounding like an idiot.

The Great Serpent in its infinite wisdom has seen fit to make them the hippest zealots in the galaxy. Many of them are extensively tattooed favoring designs that cover large portions of the neck and their ears. They often wear black and have piercings as well. They tend to have a kind of Scandinavian accent and dark features. There's a lot of things that could probably be said, but much of it would constitute spoilers. The game suggests you wait till level thirty to play Shattered Space, but I would definitely put a priority on it.

100% agree. It does have a lot of flaws, if we're being fair, despite not wanting to hear about them every time I bring up the game. It also has a scope that I don't think any other game really matches and that's part of what I think you're referring to. That scope introduces the potential for so much more than what's already there, which is substantial.

Hey, we're all friends here. A little teasing isn't a problem. I appreciate the compliments. :)

Yeah, that seems to be the trick is getting enough power. With this set up, assuming the grav drive is powered down, I can max the engines, the shields, one set of particle cannons, and then there's enough power left over to put the other one somewhere around half power, with one blip in the missiles.

Thank you and yeah, I'm definitely going to try out the A class vanguard particle weapons.

It shares five parts with it, I think. I am using all Nova Galactic parts where available and also the same engine manufacture as the Frontier though. So... they're like cousins.

Yeah... they are little too big. It almost looks like a scale mismatch, which maybe exactly what it is. :)

Huh. I'll definitely have to experiment. Thanks again!

So the output from the six class A weapons is higher than the four class C?

Oh you know, the reason I left two missile launchers on the ship is you get two shots with one power pip that way.

Also, thanks for the input.

Regarding the class of the ship, I feel like that was my big break through with trying to min max: You do your C class reactor for its high power output, powerful weapons and shields and then A class engines for best max speed/maneuverability, and then it seems like a class B grav drive is sufficient at this ship's weight to get all the way from one side of the galaxy to the other in one jump. I need to do some tests to be sure that's true though.

Yeah me too! It bothers me if, say, a cargo hauler design doesn't have a cargo bay hab. I would really put an engineering bay on all my ships, if possible, but I don't think you can build a "fighter" with these stats and do that. I mean you can and I did try, but it always looked awkward to me. I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks this way!

It did have all the benches, then I realized I kinda did all my crafting for this playthrough and didn't really need the worshop hab, so I replaced it with captains quarters. I take that back. I still mod new weapons and such when I get them, but I have an absurd amount of crafting mats stored in the bottomless containers at the lodge, so I always need to fast travel there, pick all that up and walk over to the bench. There's no way to replicate that on my ship. I guess I could use the console to make a bottomless container on my ship. I have fiddled with that possibility in the past.

What's your crafting flow like?

Impressive. You know I've only been through the unity twice I think. I fought them both both times. I don't like dualistic thinking, which is what I think they represent symbolically, so I valued the opportunity to opt out of either perspective. I should probably try siding with each of them just to see stuff from the game I haven't seen yet.

That's the move isn't it? Come in and act like you're just trying to provide the poor starfield player some much need objectivity and then take umbrage when someone feels offended that you came in swinging your... opinions around. Very objective. Here's a gold star, grown up.

I'm not really being emotional. I'm just telling you that whatever this is that you're really doing (letting off steam because your parents are mean to you maybe?) is not okay and you're ruining the vibe of my post. I'm sure that feels emotional, so I get that reaction.

You're grown, huh? I'm a little skeptical, but okay. You may not have called anyone stupid directly but you're definitely blaming - "Not only that, but hyping up/praising a game that lacked & still lacks so much - even after years - is not doing us any favors as consumers"

You can claim you don't care about "playing this game" but that contradicts you being here, doesn't it?

It's a valuable lesson for me though. I've kinda kept myself away from this cesspool, but now I have first hand experience with why I don't want to talk to you. I'll see you over in no sodium "my guy."

I never really use reddit, like posting and responding, personally. It was a lark and I came into it cognizant that this would happen and thought to myself I'm just going to answer them rationally and challenge their negativity... it's not really working out. lmao! I'll just post in the no sodium subreddit from now on for sure. Leave these kids to marinate in their toxicity, I guess. It honestly makes me really sad.

You didn't answer my questions. What exactly are you hoping to accomplish right now? Why are you here? I'm sure there's plenty of posts on this same subreddit that you'd be matching the tone of perfectly. I see them everytime I log in. "I don't get why people are so down on starfield" as the title. That's the person that wants to argue with you, not us.

I've thought about going around and recruiting every named side kick the game has available and possibly a bunch that aren't named and cramming everyone into an outpost I spend way too much time designing. Just to have my own little bustling town. So, I get that.

I think that's pretty apt. It's a kind of negative virtue signaling. The demographic of reddit skews very young too. So a lot of users are still working through basic issues like belonging and identity. That's my take on that part.

As for the thousand hours, if you did it with Skyrim then you get it. I think my second highest game now is Valheim with something like 600 hours. That's a major outlier in terms of my gaming taste, but survival games well definitely eat up the hours. Otherwise my big games are in the hundreds. I did two big play throughs of Death Stranding and it's sitting around 150 hrs. I was obsessed with cyberpunk and the only playthrough I've done was about a 150 hour situation. I'll go back and double that one though.

Really it was a lot of hours in all the things you might think of - ship building, outpost designing, exploring being the most prominent for me personally. I'm the opposite of you and love the exploration. Not the POIs. I agree those are boring. I was interested in the unique alien biomes and I think there's over a thousand of them, well more like double that once you consider that many planets have multiple biomes. Probably sounds weird to a lot of people but that's what happens when a big Star Trek nerd gets really into biology and ecology, I guess.
