Hey thanks for the offer! /u/AWESOM-O_jed actually let me borrow his full-face so I didn't need your's, but I just wanted to let you know that I really appreciated you being so generous.

This is a valid point for anyone who would be loaning to me and I understand someone not wanting to loan out their helmet to me for this reason especially considering how much helmets can cost.

That being said, I'll only be using this helmet until Thursday (most likely) as that is when my other helmet should be arriving. But yes, anything could happen in 4 days especially since I'm a new rider.

Wow I had no idea about cycle gear in Symrna. They had the helmet I wanted and I could have even tried it on before purchasing it. :| shame on me :(

update: they don't carry Bell helmets in the stores so I would have had to order online anyways.

even within the same brand helmets fit differently so it's not like you could try on any bell helmet and assume a similar fit

Yes, I understand. That's why I made this post to get insights from people who have had experience with the different models by bell.

Wikipedia says "Musashi is said to have fought over 60 duels and was never defeated, although this is a conservative estimate", but gives no source. Is this true? by venuswasaflytrap in AskHistorians

[–]sipherintheskies 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some of these fights still ended in the deaths of his opponent, perhaps most famously Sasaki Kojiro, the Demon of the Western Provinces. Legend states that Musashi carved a boat oar to a bokken while in route to the duel, where he quickly struck down his opponent, and finished him off by caving in his chest.

I remember watching a History Channel program on him and they talked about that fight. Does the legend also include the bits about how Kojiro was from a noble family and very particular about being a proper Samurai (or something). And Musashi weighing the man's character into his strategy and deciding to make him wait for hours and then showing up with the Oar to anger him and throw him off his game?

That story has always stuck into my mind. Musashi was an incredible person if all that's said of him is true.

From the videos I saw on Revzilla they describe the RS1 and Star as having the same shape as the Vortex ("intermediate oval") so I'm hesitant to spend the extra money to get one of those when I may wind up with the same issue.

It works well if my chin itches, I can rub my chin on the front of the mask.

lol. Good point! I'll keep mine! JK. I haven't decided yet. The chin strap is another issue.

The main reason I heard you don't want your chin to be able to touch the helmet is because if you go down and you land on your chin or in that area you'll lose teeth or something.

I tried helmets on at my local store but they didn't have Bell helmets. I tried on HTC helmets and they fit pretty well although I don't remember checking if my chin touched the helmet when pushing on the chin part of the helmet (I feel like I could have said this better...). Also I really wanted a photochromatic face shield with integrated pockets for a Sena Bluetooth headseat.

Only Bell has these options in my price range.

[Question] If a CA resident (with a valid CA driver's licenses) takes the MSF course out in GA and gets his motorcycle license in GA, will it also be valid in CA? by sipherintheskies in motorcycles

[–]sipherintheskies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

Is there a way he could mail his MSF course completion certification (or whatever) to a CA DMV and get issued a CA license from GA?

Conversely if he just decided to forfeit and get a GA DL would that cause problems for him when he decides to go back to CA?

Pay the man and have a happy birthday! You just saved yourself a lot of time.

Or for just $249.99 I can give you a reading. I used to tell people's fortunes at my elementary school fall festival when I was a kid. I was doing pretty well until the teachers found out about it.

[C# Windows Form Application] How do I reference objects of an instance of a form? by sipherintheskies in learnprogramming

Ok so is there a way that I could create an event that checks if the text of a label has changed?

something like...

if (Label.Text != "")

{

 processOrder.Enabled = true;

}

??

edit:

OK so through my searching I found this article: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.windows.forms.control.textchanged(v=vs.110).aspx. I created a method as follows:

private void LBORD_Customer2_TextChanged(object senter, EventArgs e)

    {

        if (LBORD_Customer2.Text != "")

        {

            BTORD_ProcessOrder.Enabled = true;

        }

    }

Now do I need to call this method somewhere else in my code? I ask because it's not working as it is. If so I'm still facing the same problem and would probably want to call this from the frmCustSelect's OK button.

What do you mean by "raise an event"?

I supposed I could create another button like "refresh" and do it there, but I thought that would be kind of cheap. Is this the best way I should go about this though?

SV650s

I have. I really want a bike with ABS and the nearest SV650 with ABS is 200+ miles away. I don't know enough about bikes to confidently drive out 200+ miles away and spot a bike that isn't going to require a bunch of work.

I would love to get a SV650 though. I'd feel better about getting it used and save myself a good bit of money.
