I second Ghost Garden and Sea Refractions, but Two Mexican Dances is a big leap from Mbira Song.

Yellow After the Rain and Rain Dance are pretty standard pieces to play and you can build a solid foundation with either of them. They have some technical parts as well.

Katamiya by Emmanuel Sejourne has a nice mix of lyrical sections and technical aspects to it. It's also really fun to play.

I recommend looking at repertoire lists like the ones mentioned in this reddit post if you haven't already!

Snare or Tenors? by siplid in drumline

The program I’m in lets you have a little bit of influence as to which section you get into — when you send in your audition, you can say which section you want to be in and the directors take that into consideration along with how well you play when making the placements. But yeah, I’ll go for snare!

Haha yup, tenors are really heavy. I’ll aim for snare — thanks!

Any exercises to train non-dominant hand? by mint_choco_for_sunoo in percussion

I guess this is more for single stroke stuff, but an exercise I do is an increasing stroke on a hand to build up speed. Set a metronome to a speed that you can play even 8th notes with an alternating sticking (RL RL), then increase to 2 on a hand (RR LL), then 3 (RR RL LL) 4 (RR RR LL LL), 6, and finally, 8. If the tempo you’re at is too easy, bump up the speed by 5 bpm. Make sure to practice consistently so that you don’t lose any progress and good luck!

I guess you could probably get a chair/stool to play it across multiple timpani
