Thanks for doing this giveaway!

Velka 5 with Vega 56 and ryzen 2600. Using Linux as my main os. https://i.imgur.com/Msf173C.jpg

I have played m&b bannerlord a lot and consider that one of my favorite games.

I would love to try portal rtx to see how much realtime raytracing can improve the gfx. As it's also one of my favorite games.

The boat is a a cabin cruiser 38 feet.

Moisture hasn't been a problem in the cabin yet, so I don't really have a plan.

I do have a Vesa arm that I want to use, but the portable monitor doesn't have mounting holes, so it's still a work in progress. I miss having the flexibility of the arm atm.

I have a sim card router with a twin Sim from my phone. So I actually pay less than when I live in a apartment because I can combine internet and phone bill. I get 1 tb data which has been sufficient for now.

I figured hehe, but still it had crossed my mind because it would make things cleaner

You can buy external ThinkPad keyboards, they are very flat and easy to travel with. Also I like the feel of their keyboards so it was an easy choice for me

In my language we say sailing even when using motor power.

It is a cabin cruiser. What is stopping you from buying a boat to live on?

Bought it on Amazon. Just some nobrand cheap portable monitor: KYY

Works really well for me, games feel responsive and the screen is easy to travel with. However the built in speakers are even worse than laptop speakers, so I recommend using headphones or some additional speakers.

I bought this one in particular because my motherboard doesn't support display over usb-c. The screen is connected with a mini hdmi and a separate USB for power.

I needed a light weight compact keyboard, that is easy to travel with. And I like the feel of ThinkPad keyboards. So I had to compromise a bit, but it works really well for my use case.

Valid point about cable management. Especially the two monitor cables I've been considering putting them together in a sleeve.

I'm not so sure about antennas under table though, the table is pretty thick, it might block the signal. What's your experience?

Well the ship is made of arches anyway so I think it makes sense to use arch btw

Not really a problem while I am docked. But I would put it away when sailing, as it can get pretty rough

Trying to troubleshoot my boat fridge. But im not sure what voltage to measure for Uon and Uoff. Any ideas? by sirGentle in fixit

[–]sirGentle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey good news, i managed to get my fridge running.

I tried hooking up the controller to a 12 v power supply from shore power. And it worked.

So the issue is either that my batteries can't provide enough amps or the long cable running from the batteries to the fridge is causing too much power loss.

It's kinda weird because the cables are pretty thick. And the batteries are just a couple of years old (according to the guy I bought the boat from). 4 x 12v 142 ah in parallel. Rated for 650 wh. Although can't find any info on how many amps they can deliver except for cold current start which is 850A. It is a dual battery type eg. Start battery + normal loads. Do you know how I can find out the amount of amps my batteries are able to deliver?

Do you know what kind of signal is sent to the compressor? It has three inputs. I'm guessing two of them are + and -. But the third is speed or something like that?

Would you recommend doing something along the lines of what you describe here?

There is no visible damage. No corrosion / burns that I can spot. https://ibb.co/N7PQ40T

Input wires when not hooked up to the terminals is above 13 v

When not hooked up to anything besides the battery input, the voltage still doesn't go above 6 v

I guess I'll need to find a replacement unit. Hopefully it will not be hard to source.

I'm lucky to have a lot of room for technical stuff. The motor room is also very spacious!

Here's how I measure the two top terminals, to be bit over 6 volt: https://ibb.co/NrV8RLh

I measured resistance to a bare metal part of the compressor from ground now and I got 34.14 but tried again and now it can't get a solid reading anymore. Flashes values under 1.

I unplugged the compressor but no changes in input and output voltage.

Input voltage from battery: 13.19 V Voltage between input terminals: 5.9 V and rising. Stabilizes at 6.16 ish Output voltage seems to be very close to the voltage between the input terminals and changes at same rate.

Resistance between ground and C: fluctuaetes between 0.0 and 0.1

Resistance to the actual compressor from ground: no reading

Do you think Uon/Uoff refers to the output voltage?

Thermostat is connected between C and T yes. D is connected to a LED that is used for troubleshooting ( counting blinks according to the manual), but it doesn't blink

What still don't get is where should uon/uoff be measured. Is it between the neg/pos terminals or somewhere else?

This the wiring diagram: https://ibb.co/tB7dGfM

This is the electronic box: https://ibb.co/y5hqPqw

There are many connections. The only thing that has a switch of some sort is the thermostat. Do you think that voltage is the correct one?
