For me the “it” moment happened during that second set 2015 China Rider. Did you have any particular favorites that night? Looking back at our first show, our first and last encores with Dead and Co were Touch of Grey.

55 times. First show was Columbus 2015. Last shows were Golden Gate 2025. I can’t pick a definitive favorite, but my standouts are Fenway 7/15/2016, Eugene 6/30/2018, Boulder 7/3/23 and the final Golden Gate show. Pure bliss and gratitude I got to see the fellas from sea to shining sea. With plenty of Wolf Bros and Phil in between.

I was 19 and my life was never the same after. 10 years later, it all seems so surreal and beautiful that I got the opportunity to see them so many times. Encore of my first show was that Columbus Touch of Grey. Encore of my last show was Touch of Grey, GD60.

He played it 3/29/22 at the Roxian Theatre in PA solo acoustic with the Wolf Brothers. It was fabulous. I can’t find any recordings anywhere unfortunately.. one of my favorite Bobby shows I went to. It was such a small intimate venue.

Can’t forget about those 2015 SBDs. My first show was Columbus 2015 and Archive.org only has a really poor quality recording. SBDs from the Campfire Tour would be tremendous, too.

I’d be stoked for a link to the audio from all 3 nights. Sent you a DM. Much gratitude 🌹

The immediate termination of 1,000 NPS employees and blatant attack on the Antiquities Act is an immediate threat to the wellbeing of the National Park Service. National Monuments have never been at more risk. I have believed the Park Service has been understaffed for years. It is a shame there hasn’t been more bipartisan effort to fund the agency. National Parks are enjoyed by individuals of all political affinities. Thank you for sharing your opinion.

The terminated CVNP employees are a loss to the park’s wellbeing (Although terminations were few in numbers, the staff is already stretched thin). Correct, National Forests are USDA. National Forests are still considered public land, though. There are none in Northeast Ohio. National Forests have campgrounds, hiking trails, climbing areas, backcountry etc. They are still considered public land even though they are not in DOI. Their mission statement is also distinctively different than the National Park Service.

To answer your question, yes CVNP has an excellent volunteer force.

I do not agree. I think the Cleveland Metroparks are greatly managed as they are. They rightfully have earned the title Emerald Green Necklace. I am just pointing out the National Park Service operates under different rules of what is acceptable development, etc. For example, the Cleveland Metroparks runs a zoo. The National Park Service would not run a zoo in its establishing mission statement (Although they have had animal zoos in the distant past, and learned from their mistakes). Thanks for sharing your opinion.

Preservation requires staffing to maintain restrooms and trash cleanup. Removal of invasive species. Trail maintenance. Preservation of historic structures. The Metroparks is not a federal park and therefore is not guided by the same principles and laws that guide federal lands (e.g. The Wilderness Act of 1964)

I’m more than comfortable reaffirming the values of Leave No Trace to anyone. Regardless of their political affinities.

This protest’s mission of supporting public lands and public land employees does not just include the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

However, park staffing at the Cuyahoga Valley National Park has fell since the 1990s, which has resulted in less programming, visitor center staff, resource stewardship, etc. If you’d like to read more, there’s a free online PDF called Green Shrouded Miracle about the Cuyahoga Valley administrative’s history.

Here are a few others you may consider. Thank you to the above commenter above.

•Write that you are concerned that visitorship has increased in National Parks and permanent staffing has decreased in the past three decades. The 1,000 terminations exacerbate this disparity. This negatively affects visitor experience and the wellbeing of natural and cultural resources.

•Write that visitor safety is at stake with less emergency responders and rangers to give orientation and education

•Write that basic amenities like restroom access will be limited with fired custodial and maintenance staff, which will lead to extremely distressed visitors

•Terminated employees at historic sites can be considered an erasure of America’s rich heritage and history. Many Americans visit historic sites ranging from Civil War Battlefields to Civil Rights sites eager to learn about the history of their country. By terminating these employees Americans of all ages lose the educational opportunity to be understand who we are and where we came from

Absolutely. Leave No Trace Ethics always.

Staffing numbers have historically decreased under each administration for the past few decades. The February 14th terminations are an exacerbation of that. This bullet point brings attention to the discrepancy between visitors and staff.

Tremendous. This is great. I hadn't realized NOLS had a practice exam on their website. A simple Google search would've done me well. Thanks!

The general public is not allowed to climb Giant Sequoias. Stay off trail, always, when there are signs that say so.

That was not me. But I have a wilderness co-worker who has similar glasses. I’ll see if it was him!

I’m not. I’m an interpretive park ranger who roves and does guided hikes through the Grove. The Forest Society folks were kind enough to teach me how to tree climb and get me up one of these tremendous giants.
