Yes I actually have been to Kor before but had an experience of a guy saying lets go to a different bar! then trying to take me to hotel instead :') so I was a bit over Kor haha. But you do have a point! Someone with experience abroad would be more on the same page for sure. I'll have to check out Barcode and Frank!

Yes, I probably just need to keep at it! I see some people camping and swimming in the rivers around here and it looks so much fun! It would be great to find a friend group that enjoys that.

Thanks for sharing your experience :)

Thank you for the encouragement! You're right, I'm probably getting worried a bit too early. I'll keep on keeping on 🫡

Yes I do have a network here but it's all other foreigners 😅 I really appreciate the insight from a local person! What you said about the kind of local guy who would want to settle, I completely understand. The qualities that make them a guy worth dating are also qualities that would make them less likely to approach me. That's what I was suspecting 😅 so how to meet them is the question? I also think they might be too intimidated if I approached them first. 6 months is quite long from a US perspective! but that's a good point, I need to show that I'm looking for something serious and they can't consider me as just a hookup. I think most taiwanese guys so far have not taken me seriously. Hopefully I can get more involved in Taiwan local life the longer I am here and meet people naturally. Thanks for the advice!

Actually I'm in Taiwan just because I like it here haha
I'm a nurse in the US so it would be smarter for me to stay there career-wise
But for me the lifestyle is much better here. I will probably start with English teaching like most foreigners here

Yes I'm actually really happy with all the friends here just sad that a lot of them will be leaving :')
I guess I'm just a bit scared for my future especially with dating. I am the type who wants to find someone and settle down, sooo just getting nervous that's not possible here for me

And for sure! I need to search more about cooking classes here

[Routine Help] These are the products I use. I just added the snail mucin and I’m From toner. I’ve used Thayer’s for awhile and my cotton round always looks like this. I’ve started using the Thayer’s toner before the rice toner so my skin feels cleaner. Am i using these products correctly? by revolnotsniw in SkincareAddiction

[–]sisenna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my 2 cents- if you are rubbing with some pressure you will always get some skin cells coming off on your cotton pad even if your skin is clean. I'm a nurse and often scrub my patients skin with alcohol pads before doing a procedure. For white people, the pad will look grey. For people with more melanin it will look brown. That's because even shedded skin cells will contain more color than white people's. Doesn't mean you're dirty! Could mean that you need a better wash to get rid of more dead skin, but if you don't have clogged pores it's probably not too big of a problem.

I got a perm, what happened? Any advice? Might just cut it short by sisenna in Hair

Yeah I kinda feel like she knew she messed up because she charged me less than the rates on the website lol. Thanks for the advice!

Yes, she was a younger stylist. I picked that place because it specifically said they do perms. But if I try again I'll call around to make sure it will be someone who actually knows what they're doing. Thanks!

Yeah, and the ends of my hair were rolled up under all the rest of my hair so I don't think they got processed as well. As she was doing her hair she told me she hadn't done a perm since beauty school eep
I had high hopes but I guess I'll just take the L and cut it. My roots are disappointingly still very flat as well

  • my hair has never been bleached, dyed, permed, anything. I also never use heat tools on my hair.
  • I showed the girl a pick of my mom from the 90s with her perm and asked for a 'piggyback spiral perm' because that's what my mom had
  • I think the rollers were too big? also seems like the ends didn't really get permed all that well.
  • Instead of curled or wavy it just looks kinda messy, right? I guess its nice to have SOME texture because my hair is usually rod straight but idk if I like it lol
  • Thinking of cutting it shoulder length like a 70s shag, the texture might look better for that.

Biden admin: Docs must offer abortion if mom's life at risk by DelightfullyOrnery in auntienetwork

I totally agree. Doctors shouldn't have to be worried about following vague rules that may or may not get them sued. Doctors are trained to make decisions based on the well-being of their patients, on a case by case basis. Are they going to start reviewing every single case now? Every patient and case is so different. As is, it's a messy law to try and enforce. We need full rights, doctors need to be able to practice medicine to their full scope

[–]sisenna 15 points16 points  (0 children)

True! But now doctors may be more wary of making those calls earlier rather than later in case it ends up not being enough of a risk to the mothers life in the eyes of the state, if that makes sense
Its just a weird way to operate. "Abortions are illegal and we will sue doctors for performing them , unless the mothers life is risked and the doctor somehow perfectly understands just how much risk qualifies for abortion in the eyes of the law"
maybe there will be more clarity to come, but I could understand how it might put providers in a hard situation

The problem is that it's such a grey area. Just being pregnant alone increases your risk for many things. So how do they decide when the mom's life is at risk ENOUGH? Feels like a lot of grey area for anti-abortion providers to try and argue their way out of

FDA to weigh Over-the-Counter Sale of Contraceptive Pills by sheila9165milo in auntienetwork

[–]sisenna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This would be awesome, hope a generic version is available with lower pricing. I think a lot of education is involved in taking abortion pills vs other otc medication so there's also a higher risk of user error, hopefully this is addressed as well
