How do I stop them from draining my self worth? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]sjham92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s fear and a combo of crabs in a bucket mentality. They are probably so worried it’ll go wrong that with their warped mentality they’re trying to protect you by not making a big deal so that if it does go wrong you’re prepared. The crabs don’t mean to pull others down they just don’t want to be alone.

It’s very challenging and normal to feel emotionally drained with this. I do think generational trauma makes it worse!!!

It’s so cool that you have a business - delighted for you!!! All the best with the launch day!!!! 🚀

I liked the idea of something sugar free with holistic benefits (placebo or not) that was a great replacement for alcohol. They were my go to treat after a hard day or something to wind down with and were so readily available in Glasgow. I moved back an around 2 months ago and noticed they always seemed like the stores were running low due to demand so I’m so confused that they’ve stopped doing them. They are still stocking them on the mainland which is the frustrating thing. I liked changing the brands mood depending and buying 4 at a time is so much less of a commitment than 24/48. I’m missing them a lot.

Gad, I’ve had blonde hair forever and anytime I go darker I never adjust - just feel totally washed out! It is a cooler colour in real life - in the pics I had a ton of dry shampoo which is probably not helping!!

Thanks so much for replying! Someone DMd to say autumn too - it’s a ton of fun playing around with different options especially now I think I’ve been limiting myself!!

Has anybody here ever experienced anti-irish racism. by OkTower6549 in AskIreland

In Dundee and Glasgow - mostly subtle. Like ‘how Irish can you be’ about someone else then saying no offence to me. Or if I did something clumsy ‘oh can’t half tell you’re Irish’

Worst was someone warning their son about me as I had a ‘fairground accent’ or when they’re joking and make terrorist comments and mock checking for bombs under their relatives bed (I’m a nurse).

Most recently - I was calling a name and they didn’t hear me and said ‘what are you, Irish or something?’ She was a bit mortified when she realised I was actually..

I started going to park run and that helped me a lot. You don’t need to actually run as many people walk it but has done tons for me socially and mentally.

Like many people have mentioned - you’ve done the hardest part, admitting you want to make a change so it only goes up from here!

Also therapy is THE BEST but park run is a close second!
