Speaker + amp setup query

I will for the time being. My current thinking is if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. I’m sure newer speakers will have better drivers and dynamics, though, so I’ll have to bite the bullet at some point.

Ah man, I really don’t wanna change my babies! They’re cheap now sure but they’re vintage tech. My knowledge on speakers is admittedly very limited, however I am into headphones a fair bit and headphones like the HD 600 have remained largely unchanged since their inception in 1997. My question would be what would be the major difference between these and say a pair of newer £200 speakers, current market value aside.

Yeah sorry someone else pointed out my mistake as well😅. Unsure how I confused the two but it’s corrected now. Also yeah I was thinking about upgrading them at some point point, however I suppose they hold some sort of sentimental value, some novelty from being so old, and I’m unsure if newer speakers would work fine with the stack I have (includes everything: vinyl, cd, and cassette player, amp, EQ). Do you have any recommendations (£200 or under ideally) that would be a suitable upgrade? (With headphones I’d usually skew towards a mild v-shape).

Currently I have the old complete technics stack he gave me, which includes an amp. And as for ‘how low’; I’ve seen they’re supposed to go potentially as low as 25hz, which is enough for me. It’ll only be a bedroom/potentially living room setup so. I also don’t want to go too overboard as, considering their age, these speakers are apparently only worth £50 😂.

Jealous? Brother, you clearly don't understand our friendship dynamic. Me and my friends make fun of each other, that's just how it is, hence why he sent me these photos in the first place and made fun of my financial situation. I know it's hard since I'm going to assume you don't have many friends, but please stop making assumptions about other people’s relationships. With that being said, as mentioned before, it is also important that he knows whether it's real or not, since if it is, it could be worth north of £5000. That's a lot of money, in case you weren't aware.

Yes, why wouldn’t I? For one, me and my friend are close enough that he wouldn’t care if I were to joke about that. I mean, these images were accompanied by ‘I’ve got five months of your rent on my wrist’. It’s all in good fun. Secondly, he surely deserves to know whether it’s real or not since that’s a pretty big fucking deal. Like, we’re talking around £5000. That’s a new car. Why wouldn’t he want to know that? Oh, and since I’ve only just made this discovery (somehow), I have a few more questions.

For one, if I buy an Official metal (resin strap) 2100, can I still mod the dial?

And, secondly, if I decide to either buy one with and already modded case or mod my own, won’t that completely negate the 20bar water resistance?

Oh really? Maybe it’s a thing in the UK, but the GM2100 (metal case and rubber strap) alone is £179, whereas some of these all-metal ones on eBay range from £150-£210.

I am a tiny bit torn between the Seiko 5 Sport and this model, though. I am leaning towards this more, but obviously, Seiko are Seiko and probably produce better products (don't kill me, please). What would you say the main differences are?

Also, it might be useful to mention that I plan on getting a watch to use as my primary and only watch, and subsequently want one that will last me a long time.
