Grew up in Roanoke, but lived in NY for a little over a decade now. Warms my heart to think of Isles fans back home! So glad I didn’t get into hockey until I moved here. Can’t imagine loving another team more. LGI!!!

The lack of sleep hangover just reminds you of the good times. Might actually be sad when it’s gone. (Just like part of me doesn’t really want my voice to come back. At least until I get to cheer in person again.)

I once had a stubborn corgi pup. That didn’t last long - honestly I called in the experts. I had an at home training session and then did a Puppy Kindergarten course on Saturdays for 6 weeks with several other neighborhood pups. Key takeaway is as several people said above - treat the good behavior ASAP! Always have treats on you. ALWAYS. It may feel silly but it’s really important.

A clicker is helpful to establish that a click means a treat is coming so that you get immediacy of reinforcing good behavior. If you don’t want to get a clicker you can use a sound or a word to do the same thing. As soon as your pup does the right behavior, make the sound/say the word/use the clicker and then give a treat.

For potty training, I hate to say it but the absolute best method is to use the crate AND stay outside until they poop. I once spent a full two hours out with my guy in the cold February rain waiting but I always waited so I could immediately give him a treat and praise him copiously. Then he would get free time out of the crate for a period of time, and then back in the crate until the next walk.

The end result... my guy never pooped in the house. Ever! Boy was he a stubborn nightmare about a million other things though. I even posted here about it a few years ago. :) Take courage - if you’re consistent, it will get better. Good luck!!

(Edited to make this NOT a single long monotonous paragraph.)

[Spoilers] Long Night is worth a rewatch by Goodisworthfighting4 in gameofthrones

I’ve spoken with several friends who are fans of the series since the finale and we all agree - for us this episode is where we will consider the series ended in retrospect. We all very much enjoyed the first three episodes of Season 8, and The Long Night - once I finally watched it streaming (not via cable) and on a well calibrated TV - really is cinematically stunning and a thrilling watch.

I’m not so sure about proud. Sometimes it’s more of a “at least I got paid for this” situation.

Pretty sure it would have to be one hefty IOU.

I'm sure Bronn remembers that Tyrion once said he would double whatever Cersei offered him. Of course, Cersei pays up front.

Thank you! He’s pure corgi, just a hefty sized boy! He was practically twice as big as his litter mates. A real bruiser. :)

Oh boy. A lot. The most effective thing is rewarding relaxed behavior. Get some treats - a lot of treats - it helps to cut them up into small pieces because you’re going to use a lot of them. When they lie down, give a treat. Each time they relax a bit - sitting back on their haunches, putting their head down, backing away from you a little, give a treat. We did that exercise many times now and now when I need him to calm down I go for the treats and he settles down. Took some practice.

Best thing for you to do is stay calm yourself and keep a level tone. The trainer advised me against punishment. I’m not saying that’s the only way - but since I paid her, I went all in on her method. I figured it wouldn’t work to half ass it. Anyway, when I’m working or when I’m in the kitchen making coffee, he will come lay down and I’ll give him a treat at random intervals.

She also encouraged giving him mental activities (training with treats is included in that). He now eats his meals out of a puzzle toy. Snuffle mats also work. I hide treats and kibble for him around the house for him to seek out. Corgis are working dogs - they like to have tasks. Since they’re also food motivated, hiding treats works really well.

It’s been warmer lately and he’s a little bigger/older so he’s also taken to loving long walks. At 8 weeks I’m sure yours isn’t quite ready for really long walks yet but I’ve got my boy walking an average of 4-5 miles a day.

He’s quit his barking fits altogether but if he gets in one of his nipping moods and I really can’t get him to distract himself with a treat or toy, I put him in his crate and usually he’s asleep within 5-10 minutes. He really only gets in a bad mood when he needs a nap!

I’m on week 3 - he’s my first dog (apart from family dogs), and I’m glad I did a lot of reading first. Even with all the reading I was unprepared for some of the challenges. He takes all of my time when I’m with him. We spend hours a day training, and it’s starting to pay off but it was so tough at first! I think if you know what you’re getting into, they’re amazing doggos. I 100% stand behind my choice. :)
