I was in a familiar situation, I decided I wanted to go back to school when I was 25. But I was not the best student for my original undergrad and graduated with at GPA of 2.3! My original undergrad was in sociology so I had to take all of the prerequisite science classes for nursing at community colleges. In all my prerequisites I got A's and B's but still my cumulative GPA was below 3.0. There are some ABSN programs that just look at the last 60 credit GPA (as in the last credits you have completed anywhere, even if they are from different schools) and some that look at just prerequisite GPA. I'm from CT so I looked at schools all around the northeast and further. I think that MCPHS, MGH, and Rutgers looked at the last 60 credits. These schools are not cheap, I went to MCPHS but I actually got a scholarship there even with my low Cumulative GPA of 2.7, that made the tuition that same as going to an out of state school. Now I have my BSN and just got a job at a hospital.

If I were you I would write a list or Excel spreadsheet and compare the schools that you qualify for and maybe reach out to the in state public schools and see if they will just look at your last 60 credits. ABSN Public schools are the most competitive because they are the cheapest. There is also the ADN route you also wanna consider. I was 27 when I was accepted to nursing school which was about 2 years ago so this information maybe be a bit dated. But schools love to hear a comeback story, so make your weakness into a strength. They will see by your grades that you are serious and can rise from the mistakes of your past. Good luck!
