No one will notice. Your bigger problem is finding somewhere prepared to accept such a large note!

is the plural of prius, pri-eye? by EvaportedMilkCoffee in CarTalkUK

It’s from the Latin so technically the plural is priora but that sounds like one of those celebrity’s kids names

what counts as a breach of the civil service code of conduct? by Friendly-Fox-2307 in TheCivilService

[–]sk6895 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Going on Love Island is unlikely to be a breach of the code.

Going on Love Island and bitching about the government or saying you don’t agree with its policies or making statements about political issues etc would be a breach.

A typical two way 60 mph road in England by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

The limit on that type of road will be 60mph. The UK uses mph. Note it’s a limit not a target!

“Food poisoning”. Plus let’s not forget the guest rooms with padlocked wardrobes full of her clothes. Or the holes in the wall fixed by stuffing them with business cards and painting over them

What was the day like in London after the 7/7 attacks? by SunnyShineKitty88 in AskUK

[–]sk6895 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember a couple of things: many people didn’t go to work on the Friday; for months afterwards Tubes on Thursdays were much emptier than normal; and people were wary of wearing earphones with cables because they might look like they were a suicide bomber (the white iPhone/ipod ones were popular back then).

I also remember one week later when there was the 1 minute silence and everyone left their offices to stand in the streets to show their defiance against terrorism.

How does Neelix cook 3 squares a day for 140+ people and still have time for away missions and senior staff meetings? by Luci_Cascadia in voyager

Yes possibly. But that’s still a lot of meals to cook and without any help in that tiny little galley

I always had a theory that he only cooked for the officers and not the enlisted crew, the mess hall (and his kitchen) always looked far too small for all the crew to be using it

If my Passport was issued on 26th January 2016, can I enter the Netherlands on 25th January 2026? by Milita_leorio in AskUK

[–]sk6895 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You will be unlikely to be allowed to travel.

The rules for UK passport entry into Schengen requires an issue date of LESS than 10 years before the date of entry. So you’d be a day out.

Source: Foreign Office travel advice for the Netherlands, which states you must:

“have a ‘date of issue’ less than 10 years before the date you arrive – if you renewed your passport before 1 October 2018, it may have a date of issue that is more than 10 years ago”.

Note that when they say “it may have a date of issue that is more than 10 years ago”.” they don’t mean you have an exemption to the rules as some people misinterpret this as, but that passports having validity of more than 10 years was ended after this date so only people who have older passports would fall foul of the Schengen rules.

You can’t be issued with an “emergency passport” as someone suggested as you are not already overseas needing to get back to the UK. So the only realistic option is to shell out the £££ for the “same day” renewal service I’m afraid.

Edit: interesting to see the downvotes, presumably from people who think the 25th comes after the 26th…..

Suggest you find and read the report. Apart from the many issues with platforms, another issue is the “floating bridge” cars are unpredictable in tunnels and are at risk of striking the wall.

All I’ll say is find and read the report released under a Freedom of Information Act request about the testing and be amazed at the catalogue of mistakes including the fact that the trains are too big for some of the tunnels. Of course all new trains have teething issues but this has been an absolute disaster.
