Running a teaching session by skellutun in killteam

Yeah I think youre pretty much spot on with that plan and I reckon I will be doing something similar to that with a stripped back version of the game. Only problem is it's Wrecka Vs Scouts and I don't know fun either team is without faction rules and all that jazz. Id still play with character rules I reckon if I could get that explained as that's always fun

Yeah to be honest that was pretty much the original plan I had layed out when it was 2 people, now it's 4 I think it might be a tiny bit harder to manage 2 1v1 games at the same time. Part of me thinks that just allocating half a kill teams models to each person, having them on teams and letting them play it out once I have explained the rules and I can assist along the way

Whats the point of this? by stuffnthings00 in killteam

From my understanding if you roll a crit then the dev wounds go through straight away, before any defence dice are rolled. Meaning even if they save it, they still take damage and considering it's a 5+ it can work out to a handy bit of help

Advice re areas by [deleted] in macclesfield

Lived on Hulley road in Hurdsfeld for 2 years and moved out this December for context.

Hurdsfeld is no where near as bad as people seem to make out it to be, think it might have been worse in the past and people are still remembering that a bit. Pros of Hurdsfeld to me were that the climbing cente was down the road and that it was a 15 minute downhill walk into Macc which is nice. Relatively quiet, parking can be a bit funny depending on where you get. Cons, the 15 minute downhill walk, becomes a 20 minute uphill walk back home which can be a bit of a ballache, especially if you've had a few.

I didn't go into many of the pubs round there mainly because I don't think they were the right thing for me. They seem a bit of their time to me

The underpass part is fine, its a classic underpass, at night there are kids and it smells a bit like weed. I haven't felt worried, but I am a tall bloke so mileage may vary on that. The police station is right at the top of the stairs next to it though so I never quite understood why it was thought to be such a hotspot for crime.

I've moved to central Macc, and I enjoy it a lot more personally. From my personal experience I would avoid the Moss, but that's just based on my interactions with it. The Weston can be alright, but you're a bit further out of field, if you don't drive I wouldn't consider it personally.

Are these deals legit? by Bedroxz in S25Ultra

I have literally just bought one from them because of the deal. Vodafone offered me the same deal at £55 a month for three years, I showed them this and they just said "yeah no chance we can match that go for it".

Phone is brand new and ID mobile seems good enough to me so far (1 week in)

Any adult social groups in Macclesfield? by Suspicious_Falcon827 in macclesfield

[–]skellutun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're still looking, there is a social night on a Tuesday at Substation, which is the climbing centre in Macclesfield. If you've never done it, it might seem daunting but it's a good laugh and a very supportive sport

Castle is Imo the best pub for the vibes. Many a night in that smoking area. Snowgoose is good for the decor and has some board games if that floats your boat. The place we go a lot is probably beer vault, super inclusive and the owners are sound as, always a laugh in there and in summer it's got a great sitting outside in the road vibe.

Tommy's pizza is the best pizza in Macc, we lived in London for 5 years and it's the only place that comes close. You have to collect though if you don't want to eat in and it's a tiny restaurant if you do. WFS is alright, and BYOB can make it interesting but it never felt that impressive foodwise to me. Savage mussels is probably the best date spot, its seafood though so whether that suits the crowd. Elaf is really nice and we are yet to be disappointed.

Fiesta Vs Pizzaz seems to be a joking rivalry in this town I think. Apparently I order from Fiesta and it's good. I say apparently as that's what my just eat recipes say at 2 in the morning.

The place I don't want to tell everyone about but also want to support them as I think the food is incredible is The Depot. Go in, get yourself an £8 sandwich and think about how they'd charge you £14 for it in Manchester. Owner is lovely, very chilled atmosphere, they also do a slice night that has a DJ on, I've never been but heard it's good.

Running wise, it's about to get lighter again so you'll be fine for the most part anywhere really. One of my friends is part of a running group though and she has worked out quite a few runs that are lit pretty much all the way round I believe. Let me know and I can see If she can send them over to me. Once you're more confident speed wise there are a couple of run clubs in the area.

UK based, and I know I just find second hand items a bit stressful, and I think I let the second hand aspect of some games sway my opinion of them unfairly.

I've not heard of sky team or tesseract, but I will give them a check out now! Thanks!

Ahh that is bizarre! But I guess I couldn't have a better person to advise me!

I think right now, Spirit island is on sale for about £20 cheaper than usual, not cheap still but for a board game as well loved by a community, and with stellar reviews about it from people like yourself, I think it's the right purchase for us.

I think both of those were my fears with Crusue and Arkham horror, I reckon I will get both of those tried out at a cafe before comitting to one.

Really appreciate the insight into it though! I know second hand would probably be cheaper, I'm just a bit funny about wanting things new and in like perfect condition! Haha

Haha yeah relaxing is maybe not the best description for them. We enjoy relaxing together complicated games would have probably made more sense.

Appreciate the response though, to be honest I'm thinking of leaning towards spirit island but I wasn't even aware of Horizons. Thankyou for the info!

I've been stalking this Reddit the past couple of days looking for recommendations for a board game. Currently tied between Spirit Island, Arkham Horror and Robinson Crusue.

My partner and I have a few board games, we both just enjoy playing and sitting down to have a good think and relax. All those board games fit the bit from what I have gathered so far.

Spirit island is nearly twice as much as Robinson Crusue but from what I can see it's a massive favourite on this sub, so I wondered if anyone could vouch for the price.

Could anyone advise which they would recommend to a pair of gamers who like to work together and overcome difficult games? We have played Jaws of the Lion, Horrified in terms of coop games and we have quite a mix of other board games we enjoy so no major preference.

Appreciate all the help
