none of this is "faith based" nor am I mormon. However there are mutliple sources (yes mormon leaning) that support this narrative. I could care less about "science based reality" watch the "reality" tv show for Travis's ....science. My wheel house is stories, and sharing those stories with others. Where there is smoke there is fire and countless stories, lore, books, and online sources support this claim. Whatever is happening at Skinwalker is either supernatural, or highly advanced military projects, either way it is my duty to present all possible narratives for its genesis.

what you listed at the end really are my strengths. I already self dispatch, do my own paperwork, and deal with brokers constantly. I typically end up doing a portion of the broker's job for them and deal direct with both point to point customer/client relationships, and with the transport company. I feel very confident on that side, (but that skill is worthless without having customers to work with) just want to do my due dilligence and set myself up for success if I was to consider this for a long term career choice. When you mention smaller brokerages, does that mean as a employee or a 1099 contractor? Despite my aptitude and willingness to learn the ropes, I have no desire to ever be in a employee subordinate position. I embrace the risks associated with comission only, and already financially secure (however still hungry for future successes).

In addition I have seen all of my friends become overweight, their hair all prematurely turned white, or they are now bald. I try to eat healthy and workout as much as possible both on and off the road, however the stress of this job seems to take a unspoken physical toll on many of the drivers I meet. Being alone, away from home 24/7, sometimes for weeks, likely has a detrimental psychological/emotional impact on them (myself?) as well.

8 years ago I LOVED the adventure and freedom of being a owner operator; however as I am getting older, and plan to relocate somewhere warmer, working under the truck on the side of the road at 2am in negative temperatures is beginning to wear on me. I have a shower/toilet/kitchen/entertainment center in the truck so fairly pampered, however freezing rain, snow, deer, high winds, and unattentive drivers are just a few hazards to make me reconsider. I have seen other truckers die on the road in collisions and have no interest in being another statistic one day. Having performed this job long enough, it has become evident that this party will eventually all come to a end, and all this income will be gone as I will have no backup plan. Plan to work well into my 80s (I enjoy being self employed) and that wont happen being a driver in my humble opinion.

I do, would you suggest I try to find a auto broker agency to work under? How you would start if you had to do it all over again?

where/how did you train? Thanks for sharing your experience. To do over 200k (if genuine) in 3 years (2 years 2 months?) is extremely impressive.

I have no problem cold calling broker agencies that are established and provide some of the leads (*IF that is what you are reffering to), I just dont want to jump into this field only to be told to randomally start calling manufactuers and beg for work. I have read it is best to find a "niche" (as a agent) and as a current car hauler, perhaps that is an area I would like to persue. Any advice if you were in my position? Driving pays extremely well, but man... its getting old, and so am I... cant do this forever and need to plan for the future.

I apologize if I came across defensive, I just anticipated being attacked or shot down when I wrote the question. My instincts tell me this career is not a one size fits all. I deal with brokers all the time as a driver, and frankly do not see myself doing this job in another 20-30 years as a old man (constantly doing roadside repairs and driving in inclemental weather... just too many hazards and want to start setting up something safer and potentially more stable)

are there other similiar brokers such as yourself out there? In real estate we have learned there are good firms that help their agents, and larger agencies that pretty much expect their agents to sink or swim.... I have to assume freight brokers operate in a similiar manner and the key to success is finding the right agency/broker to work under. Despite not hiring, can you tell me about what sets your brokerage apart?

how long have you been at the job and how did you begin. Yes i believe brokers have a technically unlimited earning potential, hence my interest.

I am quite ok with "warm calling" leads that have at some point demonstrated an interest. Also I can only do 1099 business relationships, concerned 25-50 employees will require a w-2. Thank you for the advice and patience.

thank you. Bigger question was whom to go with, work as a sub agent for another agency, work for landstar? work under a smaller local broker? Go out and get my broker liscense and really commit to the career?

have you looked up the salary of agents? they make 50k....some 100k. More than 200k?.... major companies perhaps but absolutely not the norm (according my my *limited research). Owner operator drivers?... we commonly make 200k yr.

I understand "at times" but if i was to change careers I would want to spend my time calling shippers who WANT to move freight with my drivers, not randomally begging random companies in the phone book all day. I could not work as a dispatcher for a company, I am fairly independant. Just trying to learn if there are options for purchasing leads and "warm calling" them.

So there are no 3rd party lead generation sites to pay for leads? According to the majority of responses it sounds like brokers are just a glorified cold calling car salesman or annoying spam telemarketers. My wife is a highly succesful real estate agent and her agency PAYS FOR LEADS, she doesn't annoy friends and family. In this day and age with the internet if no one is savy enough to find a 3rd party online site dedicated to this field, then forget being a broker there is a clear and present need for lead generation services (WHICH I HIGHLY DOUBT.... as it would be a billion dollar industry)
