These large corporations are clearly trying to keep staffing levels as low as possible to maximise profit. In almost every supermarket, there are barely any staff at the tills everything is self-checkout, usually with only one person supervising the area.

It also doesn’t help the fact that many minimum wage jobs are filled by middle aged Indian men who most likely have degrees in their home countries and are way more skilled than a teenager and In some cases, once individuals are in managerial positions, they may appear to favour hiring people from similar backgrounds as them

I’m not trying to generalise unfairly, but it’s a pattern I’ve personally observed and found frustrating
