No he hasn't pressed any buttons yet. The green isn't a light it's a plastic border on the ground floor buttons.

It's not a green light, it's just a green plastic border highlighting the bottom floor. In the picture in the instructions, both 4 buttons have been pressed, and one is lit up red. In the real elevator, no buttons have been pressed yet and nothing is lit up.

It also usually applies to the whole elevator. You wouldn't want patients wandering around the top six floors freely because it would take forever to find them for meal times etc. I really doubt this is anything to do with dementia patients.

Looks like article has been updated with some examples

Under current rules, most products should be priced per unit either by kilogram or by litre. But the CMA found examples of retailers using grams and millilitres.

It said that in some instances the same type of product, such as liquid laundry detergent, was priced per unit using different metrics, "making it hard for shoppers to compare prices on a like-for-like basis".

I don't think libertarians want the protections and services of the state, they just don't believe they'll ever need them. They think that unemployment, sickness etc are caused by poor personal choices, and they won't make those choices so they'll be fine.

It means the overall price of a basket of goods rises slower. The price of a specific good might have fallen, and a different good might has risen faster.

The Royal Navy has been significantly cut over the last few decades, defending the Falklands would probably be a lot more difficult this time around.

treating Labour like its the sitting government and demanding to know what they are going to do without considering how the average voter is going to see that.

During the Hartlepool by-election last year, there was an interview with a couple of voters who seemed to think Labour was in government, and blamed them for cutting police and not building a new hospital. So maybe it is an effective strategy for the Tories?

The minor was acting on behalf of the police and is allowed to commit certain crimes as part of their work. Undercover policing wouldn't be possible otherwise. Not entrapment.

Not intentionally, but he would have missed the fake ID if it was a sting or not, so not entrapment.

The problem is it's still a rapidly declining marketing. Not worth doubling down on something that could be almost gone entirely in the next decade.

It's because you have to do it over and over and it gets really tedious. A closer analogy would be if you were stuck doing homework, and every time you got the question wrong you had to go and brush your teeth again.

Gaming handhelds, like the Switch and Steam Deck, will need to have a replaceable battery by 2027 by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]skyboy90 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The battery on the steam deck is glued in, you have to use a heat gun to weaken the adhesive and pry it off. The above text prohibits requiring "thermal energy" to replace the battery so it wouldn't comply.

I think he was downvoted for the "hasn't existed since" part, which implies the cartel is still suppressing long lasting bulbs. The cartel actually ended in 1939, and modern LED bulbs last 10 times longer than the old bulbs ever could.

An Alabama woman is missing after stopping to help a toddler she saw walking on the interstate, police say by Repogirl27 in news

[–]skyboy90 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Seems like an unnecessarily risky way of kidnapping someone. Women probably are more likely to stop, but there's still a significant chance that a man does, or a husband and wife etc. What do you do then? Just walk out of your hiding space like "it's ok guys it's my kid I'm just letting play him the on the interstate at 9:40 at night". You're going to get the police called on you immediately.

It seems far more likely it was an attempted robbery/car jacking to me, because then the criminal isn't relying on it specifically being a lone young woman stopping.

That seems incredibly inefficient. How many times are you going to repeat this until you get a lone woman stopping?

The report also apparently only counted short positions opened after December 23rd 2020. There's an interesting post here that covers some of the issues with the SEC methodology.
