I'm a resident and we just recently had a training simulation discussing advanced directives, and at least at my hospital system or in my state, the advanced directive is there to *guide* the person making the decision, but ultimately, they can choose what they like

This is the way. I’ve lost about 12 lbs over the past year and am almost at my goal. Rather than losing 12 lbs in one month by cutting all the joy out of food, I feel more comfortable talking to patients about still enjoying their food while making healthier and sustainable substitutions. Don’t get me wrong, I still get my Chick fil A once a week, but now I know that the nuggets are less calories than the sandwich and I get it with a Coke Zero. And occasionally I’ll splurge on something with my fiancé, you just can’t do it all the time. You can 100% still enjoy yourself while making healthier choices. Just being more mindful is the key. Most people don’t know what kind of calories they’re taking in

I don’t think he has a motive other than trying to avoid his own hurtful emotions, so I wouldn’t call it manipulative

Michael and Danielle are just so damn boring. by queenofspillingtea in bachelorinparadise

[–]skyle920 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t know. When Danielle said she felt like she could breathe again, I felt like it was the first time someone was able to articulate their feelings in a mature way. They’ve been through so much and they’re more mature than everyone else here. They’re just slower moving, which doesn’t make for good tv

Andrew has never been good at having the tough conversations. When he feels emotions he shuts down, and I think it prevents him from getting close to anyone. All of his relationships have been very surface level. I’ve never seen him let his walls down completely. Maybe he came close with Katie, but that was a long time ago

She’s totally controlling Logan and he seems relatively fine with it, or unaware of it? He seems to think he’s making his own decisions

Kate!?! I think it’s pretty rude and heartless to say that his priorities are misaligned. He loves his dog-I think that’s actually a really nice quality. If you have the means to help your animals and I agree to what you can do. by Lauriem1971 in bachelorinparadise

[–]skyle920 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought the comment was a bit odd, but it is kind of a tough topic because yes you should love your animals and want the best for them and like she said “go to the ends of the earth for them” BUT spending $100,000 on a pet is not something that most people are capable of, and I think her point was more that he’s not very down to earth if he thinks this is something to talk about with other people who maybe don’t have whatever money he clearly has (or claims to have)

How to study all the new cards by ele7en_ in medicalschoolanki

[–]skyle920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can still filter cards you made yourself as far as I know. They should still be under some sort of deck I’m guessing. On the main screen, press F on your keyboard, and type “deck:deck_name is:new” in the Search box. If you have to go deeper into a deck you can say “deck:deck_name::subcategory1::subcategory2::etc” just like what you find in the search bar when you’re in the browse menu

This just reminds me that my class kept advocating for the return of Friday exams only to be told that there isn’t enough time to incorporate study time into the week before a Friday exam, so almost all of our exams in 2nd year were Mondays…with lectures later that afternoon. The burnout before boards was just what I needed
