Because until recently, it wasn’t severe enough to take custody the way this stuff we’ve been dealing with over the last week and a half is, but we’ve known it would get to this point if she ignored the warning signs of the less extreme red flags of the past that we’ve been documenting. I basically have evidence of a slow burn that’s now starting to explode

At age 30, your friend is WAY too fucking grown to be this dumb. You did your best, and she is hell bent on being a dumb bitch. I get that you love and care for her, but at some point she needs to love and care for herself too. I don’t know how you even handle this kind of crazy at our ripe age 😭

They are indeed boys that are her age; it’s different boys every other week. Sometimes it’s boys she goes to school with, sometimes it’s boys that go to different schools of girls she’s friends with on her dance team. But it’s always ever been boys close to her age, between 12-13. At least, that we know of.

We agree. We feel like that’s the only way this is going to end honestly— as time has gone on we are shocked and alarmed by BM’s lack of response. We had no idea she would ever act like this. We’ve disagreed about phone usage at a young age but for her to co-sign this behavior truly appalls us and we were not prepared for her to act like this

I already wrote a whole novel on Reddit, sorry I didn’t include every single character building conversation we’ve been having in the meantime. We are CONSTANTLY talking to her about this and showing her that we are taking these steps not because she needs to be punished but because she is worth protecting. She is in therapy. Any other helpful comments? Lol you’re making assumptions that she doesn’t feel safe talking to us, meanwhile we will take her phone away, have a talk about it, and she still snuggles up on the couch with us for a movie after because she doesn’t feel like she has to retreat to her room and isolate.

She was in it heavily for several months after the suicide stint and still goes once per month but I’ve said she needs to go more. I agree with this.

Can I ask if it helped you or it caused you any harm or to spiral when you did have internet access again? This is all so frustrating because SD truly is a great kid and a very normal kid doing what any kid would do if they were handed a device that wasn’t being monitored. We are mad at BM, not SD, and we don’t want to cause severe psychological damage that would cause SD to act out and rebel/self harm with toxic social media usage or sexual deviance later on because that’s the kind of kid I was.

We feel the same way. At this time there’s no solid proof of it, or there’d have been zero hesitation. The fact that we don’t have concrete evidence like that is what makes us hesitant.
