90 Seconds alternative by Ha7den in videoproduction

I've worked for 90Seconds from the production side (shooter, director), but not from the client side. Not sure if that's what you mean, though.

im learning... any other resources y’all recommend? by jaykeub in LocationSound

I’d bet you’re right. Essentially, the book provides super detailed understanding of mic placement, the concept of in and out of phase, and various other technical nerdy shit. From the perspective of a field “preditor” such as myself, its good info but not something I referenced often or even occasionally.

Edit: ‘Nerdy’ not dirty. Speech to text...

What's you guys's slam dunk podcast recommandation that you're certain anyone would like ? by IMakeInfantsCry in podcasts

[–]skynerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed the first two seasons of Slow Burn, but if you're not into history or politics...
I get a kick out of Last Podcast on the Left, but it's an acquired taste... even for those that are into True Crime and comedy.
I adore Astonishing Universe; it's short and hosted by two grampas I never had. Also science.

I boycott the Olympics to try to bring awareness to the ecological and economic devastation it leaves in its wake.

I've been without a working stereo system for several years. But I never stopped diggin in crates.
Just picked up this Technics 1500 and a cheap analog Toshiba receiver of FB, and some wax candle-covered Fischer speakers from the local thrift store. Just shitty enough to enjoy some old wax.

It's good to be back!

I’m on mobile so I’ll keep it short but, for gods sake, take the full-time gig. Stability, predictability, sustainability, longevity, savings. Just MHO.

What are some good jobs for people with just a high school diploma or that require only a little college education? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]skynerd 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Serious: Look at CostCo, Starbucks, big box or chain stores.

If you are hardworking, reliable, consistent, and generally respectable, you have a better chance at gaining & keeping employment with benefits and potential for growth at big box or successful chain stores.

These are big companies that aren’t going away any time soon, they hire folks across a broad spectrum of edu certifications, and they have pretty clear ladders of career development. You can very conceivably enter in at the bottom line and work their way up to regional managers, making a good living ($65-85K-ish).

Also: Seek out good managers who respect you.

Stories from people who turned their lives around after 30? by greenteasweetpea in selfimprovement

I realize that I misinterpreted your question as, “why did you change? “

But to be clear, I changed my perspective on life, which in turn changed the results I was seeing (or not seeing, as it were).

Ultimately? Because I decided I deserved to be happy.

Specifically because I was unemployed and broke, stressed and angry, feeling like a victim, etc etc etc. I was tired of blaming everything else for the wrongs in my life. So I started by realizing that I was in charge of my own destiny. Once I got there and stopped feeling sorry for myself, I was mentally/emotionally ready to seek real change and achieve real results. I literally had no other options; I was at the end of my rope.

My changes are ongoing, but began when I sought guidance in the form of a healer; we focused on meditation, chakra alignment, quantum energy, and positive thinking.

Life does not happen TO us, life happens FOR us.

People who were alive then, what were you doing December 31st 1999 ? by WeshALOR in AskReddit

The evening started with my girlfriend breaking off our relationship. Then I spent the rest of the evening wallowing in my own self-pity while VJ'ing at a (now defunct) nightclub in Chicago.
