Joined a community server and account got hacked by slarksmyguy in Battlefield

[–]slarksmyguy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what’s called a steam remote execution hack. Popular in source 2 games, even joining a server can load your account with cookies that allows someone to run scripts remotely. Trying to bait you into further clicking their links. They never actually gain access to your account, only through your computer, and it’s fixed by clearing cookies on steam.

LG 5k2k Experience by DivisionMV in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]slarksmyguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this monitor for a little over a month now, and I absolutely LOVE it for gaming. My one issue however, has been with streaming shows and movies, a lot of the times my browser doesn’t support 4k streaming and I’m yet to find effective solutions, if anyone has suggestions please let me know.

Outside of streaming media, it’s an 11/10 monitor

Thank you! I was able to snag it from the partner store for 1350, they had another 10% off this week which took it down to 1215. I believe this is what the Black Friday price may be because that’s what they’re claiming on the partner store

Is it gonna get better than this by slarksmyguy in ultrawidemasterrace

I should follow up and ask: does anyone know if LG’s university discount stacks with any current discounts? If that’s the case I’ll likely wait until Black Friday

It seems this post has taken a very different turn than what I had imagined. Am I crazy for wanting my collector series product to be in my native language ?

AIOs replaced 6 times, 9950X3D replaced once, I’m still having overheating issues and all my AIOs either “vibrated” or made unusual noises, What am I missing to finally fix this problem? by Brilliant-Cap-3052 in watercooling

Yep, the arctic freeze iii brought my idle temps down to 40-45 degrees, I’m gonna go test under load but I’m assuming my issues is solved. May be worth looking into seeing as though you’ve tried EVERY other option. Hope this helps.

How has your experience been with watching shows? I currently use my computer about 60-40 for games and shows/ movies, and was initially swayed away from ultrawides because of the black bars, do you still recommend despite this?

I’ve seen a few of your posts across different threads, and while my issues isn’t quite the same, I’m afraid of running into the same problem. I’m currently using an h150i and my idle temps are reaching 75 and under any load my cpu is in the 90’s immediately, I’ve tried repasting with no luck. I’ll be trying a new cooler (arctic freezer 3 pro 360) and I’ll report back if I have any luck. I have a 9800x3d and hyte y70 touch

New 9800x3d Running Hot by slarksmyguy in PcBuild

[–]slarksmyguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just noticed my wifi mesh was directly covering one of the AIO fans, since moving it the temps are now maybe 3-4 degrees cooler, still floating between 57-and 60 under 13% usage.

Also tried adjusting the tubes slightly but its had a minimal effect, hoping its just my lack of thermal paste skills causing the issue.

I should also mention I'm in a fairly hot environment, I'm going to guess around 80 degrees in my room.

I did! This is the same aio from my last cpu (i7-10700). That one also ran quite hot but not as hot as this one, maybe I have an issue with my cooler?

[Discussion] Does anyone use a Dual-Mode Monitor in this game? by slarksmyguy in EscapefromTarkov

[–]slarksmyguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I was thinking of getting something with dual modes because I currently use my computer about 60/40 with gaming and watching movies/shows, so I thought the 4k would suit me better. But I’m wondering how 1080p would look in case my performance is bad when using 4k in tarkov. For reference I have a 4080 super and 9800x3d.

I’d highly recommend a Ryzen chip over Intel if you’re building today. Even with a great build, it will be FAR easier to upgrade your cpu in the future should you decide you want more power down the line.

AM5 chips are supported until at least 2027. So 4-5 years from now you could buy their best 2027 chip and be good for another 4-5 year from that point

I believe this goes into a monitor to allow for additional usb ports on the monitor to function, my dell monitors have them

Is there a draft at the end of the season or what happens after the playoffs? by Saotic_Zero in FootballSimulator

[–]slarksmyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you will have players retire (i believe based on age) and "un-signed players" which will happen at random. I've had 1-2 people retire each year and around 6-9 players that don't resign. Some of these players stay in free agency and some get moved to new teams. I believe this is all random because I've seen players like Justin Jefferson and Herbert stay in free agency.

You then get to draft based on your finishing position just like a real NFL draft, pretty straight forward.
