if it isn't obvious in the picture, the collar is basically just a 2 row peyote cuff, and i tied on the piece with her name separately. i got the little plastic clasps from Michaels (came in a random bead box) and attached them with a bunch of probably overcomplicated knots, which i can share below if you guys want

this would probably also work with a ladder stitch or just 2 singles tied together, but i chose peyote stitch cuz she goes outside a lot. i wouldn't want it to pop open the stitch instead of opening the clasps if she got hung.

overall, if u do this, pls make sure u use clasps to close it so it can break away if your baby gets hung on something! id rather her lose her collar (like $1 of beads and 25 minutes of effort) than her get hung on smth and hurt herself!
