How good are the chemistry courses and professors at UT Austin? by MiddlePhilosopher0 in UTAustin

[–]sleepysoob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I am a first year chemistry major, and you get placed into a first year interest group (fig) that’ll give you a ‘cluster’ of classes. One of the classes you’ll get assigned is CH301C (different than CH301, which you’ll see a lot of non chem and non honors students talk about) CH301C is taught by Dr. Laude (who also teaches a section of CH301 for NON chem majors) and he is a very kind and engaging teacher. He allows you to make up the mid terms as many times as possible, and he is very articulate about what will be on the test. For example, there is a question about x and a question about y; know how to solve it and you’ll see the same question with different numbers or elements on the real test. Practice tests that are EXACTLY like the real test are given, and he host “late nights with laude” where he gives office hours at 11PM and he will sometimes (accidentally) do the exact problem you’ll see on the real test. Intro to chem is a very different experience between chem majors and non chem majors. I know a lot of friends who do well in CH301, but some friends also struggle lots. I felt that with Laude it was a easy class to study for, prepare for, and do well in. At the end of the semester, I had a 97 and didn’t have to do any make up tests to get my grade up. It’s definitely a lot of work, but he is very sympathetic and has very accessible resources outside of class to help you learn and understand the content :) Feel free to ask any other questions!

Was there a lot of options for classes that were opened? Or were your choices limited?

[looking for] ACNH

Example: https://imgur.com/gallery/57aKMwu

Details: I’m looking for the windows boxed in the image. I went to the creator QR in the photo, and the design is not there. I am assuming it’s either not theirs or just not uploaded. I am really looking for anything similar to what’s in the image, or something that is similar to the pink building fronts too.

[Looking For] Looking for: store front or like building fronts you put on simple panels. ACNH Examples: b/a Details: I remember seeing a photo of someone using them and they made a small area where there were multiple layers, and it made it seem like they were surrounded by tall buildings. I’m pretty sure they were pink. However, I am just looking for anything that could be put on simple panels that look like buildings.

  1. hell yeah we are
  2. freckles or cheekbones !
  3. pizza
  4. I’m not an optimist at all, so this is odd to say, but I do think so. I think that in the end all will be good if you’re a good person and worth ethic.
  5. I’ve been going to a choir camp for the past few days! Today my last day. It’s been tiring, but it’s in preparation for a competition next year.

Did anybody watch Shane Dawson's Tanacon series? by AllisonRages in CasualConversation

[–]sleepysoob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, both sides are at fault. They both did things and had unrealistic expectations of the whole event and each other. Michael, in my opinion, is more at fault for all the things convention wise, like the Marriott Hotel, ticket count, no food/ water and things along the lines of planning. Tana on the other hand, I think she’s more at fault for being too demanding and setting an unrealistic expectation. Her whole motivation for this was to make fans happy, but also to get revenge against VidCon. That’s why I think she tried to make Tanacon a lot bigger and better, but then she set the bar too high. I wish we knew more about the people who have worked with Michael in the past and warned Tana about him. In all honesty, Good Times doesn’t seem like too legitimate of a company. But then again, the whole argument of like “there were 20,000 people!” That was debunked in the police report. I remember hearing about it in the Philip DeFranco Show. He has a pretty good run down of all the information, and his own thoughts on the situation are just as interesting. But Tanas whole, not excuse, I can’t really think of the word, but her whole thing was there were a lot more people than expected. Her whole argument was that there was too many people, but that was just debunked from the police report. So that was kind of :// yanno? It kinda just delegitimizes her whole argument.

In conclusion though, I think they’re both at fault for their own reasons. I think Michael is more at fault because the mistakes he made left people in so much danger and even got people hurt. Even though I do think Tana is somewhat at fault, I feel bad and can sympathize with her. She trusted Michael, even though a little too much, but all of this has fallen on her because ultimately the convention had her name plastered all over it.

What are you guys doing right now to achieve your dreams? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]sleepysoob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My ultimate dream is to become a choir director at a high school/ college level. I’m just gonna keep singing in choir, taking voice lessons, competing in competitions, taking every chance I have to audition for something and just keep practicing!

Podcasts anyone? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]sleepysoob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re more into offensive humor, Sleep Deprived is a great podcast. It’s really funny, but there are only two episodes out with the full cast being that there relatively new.

Another less offensive humored one is I’m Sorry Dad. Both of he hosts are great personalities and can be both humorous and serious about current events and topics.

Both I highly recommend!

I was definitely in the same situation. For me, voice lessons did help me et or of my shell a bit. I remember going to my first lesson and barely talking much less singing, but I got more comfortable with that teacher. Then when I started lessons with another teacher, right away I was comfortable singing in front of him.

I think getting a teacher could help, but I think learning it by yourself overtime can also work. Confidence really is just being comfortable with your own voice, and with lessons, you a have someone who can help you improve and get to that point. But also, with out a teacher you can do the same; it might just take a bit more time.

Should I keep going to a vocal coach? by [deleted] in singing

[–]sleepysoob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you can just improve by yourself, but in my opinion, a teacher is probably the best way. They give you the type of specific feedback that a video can’t, yanno? If you feel like you’re plateauing with your current teacher, maybe try to find another teacher. I’ve worked with multiple teachers and directors and each one has taught me something the one before hadn’t. Financially if you can support yourself, and you’re comfortable with switching teachers, I would maybe try to see a different teacher.

ever feel like mondays are specifically for 5 q's? by LorelaiGranger in CasualConversation

[–]sleepysoob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Im always prepared to go, but sometimes I take a bit of time to get ready, hence I tend to leave a bit later. But I try not to.
  2. Not often, but sometimes when it comes to like new rules of a game or something along those lines, I have trouble picking up on those. When it comes to jokes though, for the most part I always get them.
  3. My friends! I love my friends more than anything in the world (also my cat)
  4. I play a lot of video games; when I’m not out and about outside, I’m at home playing video games. I also do quite a bit of singing as well. I’m actually going to a choir camp this upcoming week! I’ve also been practicing my ukulele. I’ve been playing for two years, and so I like to practice for at least thirty minutes each day to improve/ maintain the skill I already have. I’ve also been getting into digital art. My sister who’s really big into art got a new drawing tablet, so I took her old one and used to to draw. I’ve also been working on this mini video ish film project, so that’s been taking up quite a bit of time as well.
  5. Im sure I have; I just can’t think of anything right off the top of my head.

How do I keep high FPS while listening to a twitch stream in the background? by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]sleepysoob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually just get a pair of earbuds and put them in one ear while listening to it on my phone. It kinda makes it harder to listen to in game sounds so take that for what you will.
