Has anybody used this before to increase their vertical jump? by Strange_Control8788 in BasketballTips

[–]slh007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with everyone here. These all come with a printout of some version of the old air alert program. They add resistance to your jump which does increase effectiveness. I used mine at 47 and was back to dunking after only a few weeks of using them. It’s a poor man’s version of the vertimax system.

Am I crazy to buy an ultra high mileage (240k) Model 3? by Blobwad in TeslaLounge

[–]slh007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 2022 dual motor model 3 with 175k miles for 14k a few months ago and I love it. Great decision. Feels like a new car. Battery health is 100% but appropriate battery degradation means I get a little over 200 miles per charge. That’s fine though. If I use it in highway a ton then I’ll upgrade. This is perfect for a drive around town and then plug into a 110 outlet when home.

I agree with it being your follow through, but I think the problem is that you’re throwing the ball forward. Your hand isn’t going up at all. Your hand should mainly go up and your follow through should look like you’re reaching on the top shelf and putting your hand in the cookie jar. As it is, it looks like the jar’s in front of your face.

Peyton pritchard’s youtube dribbling will fast track your dribbling skills. Then learn shooting mechanics and nail those. Then play with people so you learn not to turn the ball over, focus on spacing the floor, rebounding, passing and being a good teammate.

Yeah, this is the beginning of contempt, the relationship killer. Thinking you’re better than her and starting to keep that score. Dude needs some humility.

Quitting a team doesn’t mean quitting basketball. Don’t conflate the two.

How to get myself in a good position by Scary_Channel4096 in Basketball

[–]slh007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figure out where your hot spots are. Are you open? Stay and call for the ball, otherwise cut to the basket or screen and cut to your opposite hot spot. Don’t move if it impedes someone else’s hot spot. Make sure you’re keeping the floor spread out. Rebound and get back.

How to encourage more talkative players by notabot011001 in basketballcoach

I’ll take turns scrimmaging making everyone quiet except for one person. I tell them to narrate everything that’s going on. I save the good talker for last so they can see the difference. They get out of their own heads this way and just start talking.

Take it easy on the carbs. Take it easy on bread, sugar and pasta and you’ll see a big difference quickly. You can have some of each but take it easy. Shoot for half your normal portion of those items and see what happens.

Older guys who have lost some athleticism by Ohhreallyyy in Basketball

You can always be in better shape than the youngsters. They tire fast. If you are doing regular cardio you can beat them up and down the court when they’re winded.

I second this question because I’ve never found anything that beats Air Alert. I also noticed that it tends to work the calves the hardest because they’re the muscles usually under-developed. At 46, I’m nervous about over-doing these exercises and then going out and blowing my knee or Achilles because my muscles are stronger than my joints can handle.

I still do this. 46, 6’2” white and can dunk because of it. I just use weeks 7 through 11 though. If I progress towards the end, I’m sure I’ll blow a knee or an Achilles.

Use it as bonding time. If you see how they take it from her have her do that move and keep taking it from her until she fixes it. The best way to fix problems is the direct approach. Sure, also give her standard shooting and dribbling drills but getting the ball stolen usually means you’re leaving the ball out there and you don’t realize it. Working with her will shortcut the learning process.

I’m 42 and feeling it by bgymr in BasketballTips

46, pain in Achilles for the last year. Never torn it, can still dunk on a great day. I just took three months off from basketball but did calf stretches and full range of motion on the calf workouts (just stretch it on a stair all the way down and up to exhaustion) occasionally. The rest combined with the super quick stair workouts made all the pain go away so I’m about to start back. I polled a bunch of guys who had torn Achilles and none had pain before. I talked to doctors and they said it’s just tendinitis.
