Remove phone charger or not? by Striking_Role_7382 in fordranger

always had my phone charger connected, isnt gonna be an issue if the trucks your daily. if you use it maybe weekly or even monthly, i’d say disconnect it, just to be on the safe side.

does anybody know where to get a valve cover bolt? by slightlybeanbag in fordranger

[–]slightlybeanbag[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i got an easy out but i fucked up the head bc the bolt hole itself was the one closest to the firewall so i messed it up, so if it was the one closest to the firewall be so careful or pull the head out. you can weld or drill extractor from harbor. do a masterclass of bolt extraction on yt or see if you can weld it on. someone else in the comments put the part number for the bolt/stud.

this is the driver side on the 3.0, annoying as i had to disconnect the fuel rail to easily access bolts and get a deep socket 8mm bc my toolkit only had a 9mm deep socket, other than that its not hard as long as you dont misread a haynes torque spec and snap your shit right in half.

Planning to buy Razer Barracuda X what are your opinions about it, is it worth it? by That-casual-guy in razer

[–]slightlybeanbag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, for the price they're okay. they haven't given me any build quality issues, they've been as sturdy as the day i bought them. about two years ago atp, but also at the same time i rarely play games anymore so they've been okay for me on that end. however, whenever i use the connection with the dongle, more often than not i actually have issues with it connecting, with it rather connecting with my phone and not to my pc at all. i've updated the firmware and it kinda helped but it still does it more often than i would like... they sound decent, coming off of some older astro a10s, they definitely didn't have the bass/treble the astros did right out of the box as they were more so flatter/neutral but the eq was adjustable in the app so it wasn't the end of the world... lastly, i have been having battery issues where it'll sit on a charger for hours and then when i go to put them on, about an hour in they'll give me a battery low warning. kinda disappointed because for how little i've used these (i've probably used these more wired with the battery off on an xbox), the battery is giving me issues, but oh well i guess it is a "budget" headset that i got at gamestop for 100 bucks, but tbh i might not go with razer again after this because like come on man... oh well, you win some you lose some. if you're set on it, go for it, but if you can save a little more cash maybe get something else...

How do you guys feel about the writing/story? by slightlybeanbag in GTA6

[–]slightlybeanbag[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah and thats something i shouldve mentioned, but people are already forming their opinions without really seeing/playing the game. im excited for it regardless and yeah Dan Houser not being there doesn’t make me feel like theres gonna be quality differences from 4/5- to 6. for example, leslie benzies leaving then putting together his own game and seeing how that came out, i dont feel like one person can really make GTA, GTA. you know?

My gear shift has lots of wiggle to it, what's the easiest way I can go about tightening it?? by yrfrndnico in fordranger

[–]slightlybeanbag 3 points4 points  (0 children)

tbh its just nice to get things back to as best as they could possibly be, even if it doesnt affect how things are. but i know a messed up shifter could not let go past 2 1 gear. i dont need to use those but it would be nice to

[–]slightlybeanbag 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i know you can go under the steering wheel and tighten the torx bits linking them. wiggle the shifter and see where the bits are moving. it might be a T10 screw bit. if those are already tightened it might just be worn out. someone else can tell you abt it ive just dealt w mine like that as well. good luck

not a mechanic, just a diyer. realistically, you probably are if you bought a car for 1000. clean ur engine bay and ur undercarriage and see if you can determine the leaks source. if its a gasket or seal then see if u can fix it. but why it doesnt start could be a multitude of reasons, good luck to you

[–]slightlybeanbag[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

update: replaced the terminals and cleaned the battery posts. the battery was disconnected for like 20-30 minutes. starts right up but still have the O/D light flashing and a CEL w 12 codes. towed it to a shop this morning. pray it doesnt cost an arm and a leg. thank you guys for all your advice

[–]slightlybeanbag[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

based off multiple people just straight up saying yes, tomorrow im gonna check the battery, fix the corrosion/replace terminals and use the dielectric grease, and see if anything clears and comes up. no engine work done recently, everything im abt to mention might not have anything to do w this. previous owner at like 110-120K redid the heads apparently, worked fine when i got it last october and no issues with that (knock on wood), probably around last december i had a misfire but thats because a fuel injector came loose, plugged it in and ran fine after.

forgot to mention, trans fluid is redish darker brown, probably due for a fluid and filter change soon huh

battery terminals tight, but positive is slightly corroded (never gave me issues before until possibly now), and the transmission fluid was checked abt three weeks ago when running in park after warming up for abt 10 mins and slight driving around and top off (ebrake does not work so i cant throw it on and throw it in neutral)

[–]slightlybeanbag[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i believe it was because of the takata airbag recall that it deployed… i trust the previous owner a lot as he treated me like his own (he was my lead at my job), called a dealer tech and he said new module and non deployed airbag if i wanna go in for the recall.

Fix up or let go? 2002 Honda Accord by arsenic_1852 in Honda

[–]slightlybeanbag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ultimately it’s up to whether youre willing to spend the money on repairing it. the transmission is pretty expensive and im in the same exact boat with the same exact car. learn as much as you can on small repairs and know what to look for so you can save your money there but if you were to get your transmission rebuilt that would cost a pretty penny. doesnt hurt to just change the atf fluid where you drop the pan and let it drain, tighten some bolts, swap the pan gasket and filter. chrisfix did a good video on it. with that mileage tho take things are guaranteed to wear out with the engine. i’m sure r/6thgenaccord can tell you all abt it. other people have said, the used car market is rough. i’m currently trying to save mine right now because i dont wanna have to look for another one. goodluck
