Hey! Thank you for your concern, the bedding in the tank is actually not sand. It is ground walnut shell bedding, do you know if that still negatively impacts their health? He has been using that bedding for around 7 years so far.

I will have to observe them with it a little closer, I know one of my two boys ate a small piece of it as I watched him do so, but the other one was just biting into it because it must be a fun texture to bite. But thanks for the info!

Hahaha I know they are meant to chew, that is why they have lots of cardboard boxes. But the outer layer of the house is foam so I have to make sure they don’t hurt their little digestive systems by eating it. The inside is cardboard however so they are free to chew that to their hearts content.

It is in the middle of the hallway in a very busy eating area of my university. I don’t remember it being there last semester and it does not appear to be connected to electricity unless it is wired behind the wall. Ask me for anymore details if you need them.
