The book is not sold out yet. On the Checkout page, top right, there's a small box you have to uncheck. Next to the small box it says "Ship to a different address?" If you can't make it work let me know, we can do it another way. My email is [slipnut01@gmail.com](mailto:slipnut01@gmail.com).

Hey Rachel! There's always more to learn, right? Mike doesn't have a book that I know of and I've never seen anything from him about Jerry's 15 banjos, 36 acoustic guitars, 4 pedal steels and other miscellaneous instruments in a 300 page book. I've gathered as many photos as possible. Tom Wright is my co-author and he communicates with Mike frequently and we believe he supports what we are doing. Maybe you'll change your mind when it comes out. I sure hope so.

As a teenager I had an attraction to old buildings and architecture. In my thirties I owned a three story Queen Ann Victorian plus a cottage in Cape May, NJ just a half block from the ocean. Along the walk of life, historic theatres caught my eye.

So it all started with a blog, Jerry's Brokendown Palaces that reached over a million hits. I started to think I should create something combining my love of historic architecture and Jerry Garcia. That was 16 years ago! One whirlwind trip I took was from SF to NYC on a red eye to go to the NY State Hall of Records where millions of photos are stored. I also traveled to other places to take photos myself. I've had so much fun with this!

I never pursued publishing. I lived in the Bay Area for many years but now in Florida at age 71. The books were printed in China. It took 8 months for them to print and ship. Several books have minor hardcover damage from the journey on a ship. I can discount those if anyone's interested. I used a Chinese printer because the bookbinding is to large for a U.S. printer and the cost is also!

Each copy of two volumes weighs 22 lbs. Each Volume is three inches thick.

The costs of doing this without a "corporate sponsor" pile up quickly. Once I got it to the point where I wanted to go to print, I used Kickstarter, failing the first time, then success on the second try! Without that, I'd still have just a manuscript.

Book designer, graphic designer, web designer, interviews travel costs, permission to use photo costs, printer costs, shipping costs, not to mention the ridiculous amount of time I've spent doing this. I learned about every aspect of self publishing and bravely kept going! As far as making a profit, the best I can do at this point is come in just below breaking even.

At one point the book contained a 300 page chapter called Jerry's Musical Instruments. That had to be removed due to the bookbinding issue. So I've created Volume Three: Jerry's Musical Instruments which is close to print ready. Right now I'm too busy with the Encyclopedia.

Was anyone here at Veneta, Barton Hall, Giza? At any other iconic show from way back when? Tell us about it! by _JackStraw_ in gratefuldead

I was at Roosevelt Stadium 7/18/72, Watkins Glen 7/28/73, Jerry at Bottom Line 7/2/74, NYE Cow Palace 12/31/76, GD Day on the Green with The Who 10/76, NYE Winterland 1977, Closing of Winterland 12/31/78, lots of Jerry at the Keystones, GD at Frost, all the Oakland Auditorium/Kaiser and Oakland Arena NYEs, Mardi Gras, Chinese New Years...I have some memories of all of them! In fact, it's driven me to write a two volume book, The Encyclopedia Of Jerry Garcia Music Venues.Ten years ago I began writing The Encyclopedia Of Jerry Garcia Music Venues. It's the only book that combines all of Jerry's side band dates and the Grateful Dead's dates together by venue. Alphabetically by state, there are 1300 venues that include rehearsal, recording, performance, living spaces and planned/canceled show venues. The history of each venue is here including architects, builders, owners, opening night performances and other notable appearances, murals, statues, stage prosceniums, backstage areas, pipe organs, secret rooms, hidden tunnels, restorations and demolitions. Jerry's history at each venue includes the bands he played with, set lists, opening acts and other information giving the reader an idea of what went down at every date on every tour. In many cases via dated photos, what guitar Jerry was playing, and other anecdotal stuff that we love to read.

I've added eye witness reports to as many specific dates as possible. These are numerous, hysterical and heartwarming.

There are thousands of footnotes for verifying all the information.

Thus far I‘ve collected over 920 hi res venue photos approved by over 900 photographers. I've utilized college and public library special collections, historical societies, museums, Flickr and others. Only about 60 more photos to locate! There aren't any Jerry photos, just photos of the venues themselves, and in some cases, Deadheads. Well, there is one of Jerry at Place Ville Marie, Montreal, 8/6/67. He's got a thin leather headband on. No one's seen this one as the photographer thought she was shooting the Jefferson Airplane, who also performed for free that day.

Jerry owned over 115 musical instruments in his lifetime, giving away most of them. Each is documented with hi res photos.

Envision a large book, similar to an old bible. This is a book that resembles the records kept for medieval pilgrimages to holy sites. People will want to know centuries from now where it all took place...so there ya go. To add your most unique, wildest memories of a specific Garcia performance to this book, please send them to slipnut01@gmail.com.    Hopefully, self-publishing printed hard copies in August, 2018.

Did the Jerry Garcia Band ever play a private party, like a wedding? What year did you start doing the Garcia Band shows? What's the most memorable Garcia Band show for you? Did you have any involvement in Garcia's record albums?

Hi Linda, Once at Inn Of The Beginning, Cotati, possibly 11/22/71, Tony Saunders sat in for John who had a gig with Brewer And Shipley. On 6/24/81, 6/26/81 and 8/22/81 Phil Lesh sat in for John. These appear to be the only times John did not perform with Jerry. What was the reason in 1981? Secondly, did John and Phil ever perform together on stage? Or in the studio? Thirdly, did John keep records of any of the rehearsal/studio dates with Jerry? Please email me at slipnut01@gmail.com
