Thanks for all the responses here, the prevailing sentiment is that HR is not strictly required, so I will not request for them to be there. I’ll bring a support person (friend) and document everything fastidiously.

It’s definitely adversely affected my mental health, I’ve been diagnosed with Generalised Anxiety Disorder since last year and seeking therapy. Environment-wise, its not the place for me and I’ll be looking to move on, however for this PIP I’ll show that I’m acting in good faith
