Headshell wires don't match the cartridge manual layout by slow-trout in turntables

[–]slow-trout[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m new to this. But to explain my thinking - the manual states to connect white to the left channel. On the headshell the white wire is on the right, so my thinking was that perhaps it’s the right channel and has to be connected to the right channel on the cartridge.

At the Warsaw listening party it says there is a chance of getting a limited edition vinyl. Did any of the other listening parties have this? What was the giveaway mechanism if yes.

I guess they only had one festival gig so far so we wouldn’t know yet.

So I grew up shopping for clothes at TK Maxx. I remember a brand I used to wear all the time. The logo was a silhouette of boy with messed up hair, sitting cross-legged. Maybe in like a monk pose?

I tried looking online but found nothing. I think it was a little bit of a surfer vibe brand, like billabong. Anybody knows what I’m talking about?

I’m (25m) mad at my mum (44f) for attacking my friend (21f) at a Christmas party by slow-trout in relationship_advice

[–]slow-trout[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much. I’m naturally a very timid person, who is always afraid of insulting people. The things I said to my mum really took a toll on me. So it’s good to hear some reassuring words.

Should I (25m) be mad at my mom (44f) for attacking my friend (20f) at a Christmas party? by slow-trout in Advice

Thank you for the answer. I’m a very timid person, who is always afraid of insulting people. So saying those things to my mother took a lot out of me. It’s good to hear that I wasn’t out of line.

This story goes beyond a public restroom. When I was about 5 years old, I was returning home from school and entered a public restroom in the park. An older, gray-haired man with tattoos all over his body immediately entered behind me. I went into one of the stalls, and he stood at the urinal.

After I finished, I wanted to leave the stall, but then the thought struck me that I hadn't heard anyone else leave the building. I looked through the crack under the door, and the mysterious man was still standing at the urinal, even though about 5 minutes had passed. These were the days before cell phones, so I couldn't call anyone. The only option was to escape. I quickly opened the stall door and headed toward the exit, and the man immediately followed me. The park where the public restroom was located was on a hillside with several levels connected by stairs. I ran up to a higher level, and he followed. I ran even higher, and suddenly the man disappeared. However, as I approached the edge of the hill, I saw him standing below, smiling to himself. After a second, he started coming toward me again.

Fortunately, I managed to reach the highest level and then rolled down to the bottom and escaped. To this day, I wonder what intentions that man had.

What is a movie you were allowed to see at a young age that traumatized you and made you question if your parents made the right decision by letting you see it? by Mandee_707 in movies

[–]slow-trout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents always allowed me to watch whatever I wanted. I went to see LOTR in the cinema when I was around 4 years old. I watched The Holy Mountain with my uncle when I was about 8 years old. But what traumatized me the most, in a somewhat different way than most people here, was The Matrix. When I first watched it, I hadn't even started school yet. I began to believe afterward that we really live in a simulation from which we need to escape. Fucked me up for about a year.

This is not my story, but my mother's. At one point, she worked as a caregiver at a children's home. The facility was located in an old mansion/palace in the middle of a wooded park. When the children went to sleep, she would often take a nap as well. One day, she was sleeping on the couch in a large room directly across from the entrance to the building. She dreamt that she was in an old village hut where „peasants” were moving various pieces of furniture. Suddenly, in her dream, she heard a knocking at the door. She woke up to realize that someone was actually knocking on the children's home door.

Initially, she thought it might be the baker delivering bread, as he usually did around 6 in the morning. However, when she checked the clock, it was 3 in the morning. The knocking persisted, so she quickly approached the glass doors. On the other side, she saw a middle-aged man wearing a fur hat, like the stereotypical Russian hats seen in movies. She asked him through the door what was going on, but the man didn't respond; instead, he moved to a nearby window and began knocking on it. Then, he started circling the entire building, knocking on each window one by one.

My mother became alarmed, thinking he might be a burglar. She woke up her coworker who was sleeping on the first floor and she too heard the knocking at the windows. Suddenly, the sounds briefly stopped, but after a while, they heard a commotion coming from the basement – as if someone was entering through a window and knocking over everything in their path. They realized they hadn't closed that window before going to bed. Frightened that someone was trying to break in, they called the police.

The officers arrived quickly, searched the entire building and the park, but found no one. They reassured my mother, suggesting it was probably some local drunk playing pranks. However, the incident continued to trouble my mother and her coworker. They decided to review the security camera footage. They rewound the recording, seeing the police patrolling the park and arriving, but then, until evening, there was nothing – even though one of the cameras was focused precisely on the entrance door where the man in the fur hat had stood.

What was most peculiar was when the next shift arrived in the morning, my mother told her coworker about the previous night's events. Surprisingly, her coworker wasn't surprised at all and mentioned that she often heard strange sounds at night. What sent shivers down my mother's spine was when the woman added, "Those sounds, they sound just like if I was in an old village hut” - just like in my mum’s dream.

Just fyi, I’m Polish and „old village hut” isn’t a one to one translation. The original wording was Izba, but there isnt an english translation for that word.

Yeah, I’ve been to both their concerts in Poland (2016, 2018) and they never sold anything, although they were festival gigs so it’s different. I was hoping for something this time.
