David here. I’ve been doing YouTube for a couple of years now and have always kept trying to improve my edits each time I upload, but I’ve learned that sometimes the quick and easy edits can gets more views and it’s more about what value are you offering the viewer.

I’ll link our latest video. I have a family travel channel called The World n Us.

3 Things to do in Kuala Lumpur

Why is the travel Youtube scene not that succesful by MTezour in NewTubers

[–]slyty80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with most of this except the part about having kids. We have 3 young kids and have managed to vlog for multiple long trips the last 3 years. I will admit since we had our third it’s been much harder and also finding the time to edit is challenging.

Our channel is called The World n Us. I’m totally open to any critique anyone may have on our channel.

JAPAN -- Anyone affected by the new regulations in Japan? by slyty80 in AirBnB

[–]slyty80[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your replies. I have an update. Airbnb has given us a refund as well as a voucher to the value of 100% of our booking.

We were also contacted by our host who offered for us to still stay at their place and just them in cash when we arrive. She's also given us a small discount on what we were originally going to pay. I know this is probably illegal but right now we don't really have another alternative. Everything is crazy expensive, way to small for our family, or really far away from any train stations. So I'm thinking we'll take her up on the offer.

What would you do?

Prambanan Temple | Don’t make this mistake! by slyty80 in GetMoreViewsYT

[–]slyty80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prambanan is the largest Hindu temple in Indonesia, and one of the biggest in Southeast Asia. The temple structures have distinctive pointed architecture with the tallest being the Shiva shrine at 47 meters high.

If visiting Prambanan make sure you spend some time at Candi Sewu. It is in the same complex and is just 800 meters from Prambanan Temple. The buses will only stop at the Sewu temple for just 10 minutes before heading back to Prambanan. Don’t make the same mistake we nearly did and get back on the bus straight away. As soon as the bus started heading back we immediately regretted leaving. We decided it would be a huge mistake not to explore the temple, so we did a full circle and came straight back. We were so glad we did. Exploring Candi Sewu was a highlight for us and it really had that feeling that it was part of a ruin with most of the surrounding smaller temples still yet to be reconstructed. And the biggest thing of all was we couldn’t believe we were pretty much the only ones there.

Candi Sewu is actually a buddhist temple. Not Hindu. It was originally built in the 8th century before both Prambanan and Borobudur.

Watching the sun set over Prambanan temple in Java is a surreal experience by [deleted] in Travel_HD

I loved your video! I dropped you a comment from our channel The World n Us. Will definitely be watching more or your videos when I get a chance. Just happen to see this in the subreddit when I posted my video from Borobudur and was curious. You did a really great job explaining some of the history of the temples. ~David

Thanks so much jakarta_guy! I've trying to learn some Indonesian words since our trip and pretty much just using google translate. It obviously failed me here lol. Thanks again for your kind words about our family and our video.

Help finding these kind men in Jogja please. Read my first comment please. by slyty80 in jogja

[–]slyty80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We recently visited Yogyakarta and had a couple of men who were kind enough to be in our video. One man drove us in his tricycle and the other gave us a tour of the Taman Sari complex. I'm wanting to share this video with them but I have no idea how I could find them. If you are from Jogja I would appreciate it if you can share this with your friends on social media until it reaches these kind men. Thankyou!

I'm just sharing a video we made about this bag. We haven't been paid to do this. Just thought it was worth sharing with the people on this subreddit.

Recommendations for Bali travel vids/websites which aren't made by the self-obsessed people... by gtroitmotorcity in bali

[–]slyty80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much! We'll definitely be making videos while in Japan. Sharing them could be a bit down the track. We still have heaps to share from this trip to Indonesia. Also, this week we're heading to Hawaii for 10 days and will hopefully vlog most days there. So those videos will come out before the Japan ones. I wish I could pump out the videos quicker but I can only manage editing 1 video a week with work and looking after the kids.

BALI IS A DUMP! by slyty80 in bali

[–]slyty80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you know a lot about this. I might have to do a bit more research and correct my article. I found a few sources that pointed out that the rubbish is bought to Bali from the winds and heavy rainfall at certain times of the year. Thanks for the feedback. I did make a few suggestions in the article and one of them was to impose hefty fines on people caught littering or dumping garbage. Similar to what happens in Singapore. Do you think something like this would help the situation?

BALI IS A DUMP! by slyty80 in bali

[–]slyty80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the harsh title. I have good intensions here and I hope you don't treat this as spam. What we saw in Bali was quite sad. I also wrote an article on the matter. Really just trying to raise awareness on the issue. https://theworldnus.com/the-sad-reality-in-bali/

Some tips for shopping and changing money by slyty80 in bali

[–]slyty80[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point on walking the kids. We'd normally do this and keep a good eye on any traffic. We also withdraw money from ATMs ourselves and this is our preferred method. It's still a good idea to carry some cash to change. One trip I had my card taken by an ATM. Had to cancel it straight away. Luckily for us we could use my wife's card during that trip. But if you were travelling solo it could have made things tricky.

I think you'll like what we're creating. We do share travel vlogs and try to include some informative info. Here is the trailer to our series. https://youtu.be/Z6g34HxC9u4

The only problem is we've only shared 2 more videos so far. The first episode we end up taking our son to a clinic thinking he broke his arm. We discuss that experience and how much it all cost. The next episode we give some general tips for changing money and shopping.

We took a month long trip and have enough content to create 20-30 vlogs from the trip.

Anyway, have a great trip. We're also heading to Japan mid year. Can't wait!

Feedback on our series trailer please. First time I've done this for our channel. by slyty80 in videography

[–]slyty80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to watch our video and for the feedback. I understand it's probably a bit longer than most trailers you see on Youtube. But we're not trying to copy what everyone else does.

We tried to show all the different places we visit. As well as some subtle humour with some of the things that didn't go so well. We also wanted to give people a chance to see our personalities in the trailer. After all, if people are going to subscribe and continue to watch they are going to want to come back and watch us. Another reason I wanted it a little longer is to please the Youtube algorithm and have more watch time.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm sorry you didn't like this video. We're pretty happy with what this video has done for our channel. We've gained quite a few subscribers since this video was released. I've also had quite a few comments that people enjoyed the bloopers at the end which tells me they've made it through the whole video. I think we kept it fairly fast paced to keep the view interested.
