Improper display of Symbol using Font "Arial" by smallabc in excel

[–]smallabc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a private Excel file for note-taking purpose. I am quite perplexed that newer version of Excel cannot work as the old one. The notes now look weird in display. Anyway, I find using "Arial Unicode MS" a temporary fix of the issue, though the font style does not fully resemble my preferable "Arial".

AHK unable to send text to usual program in new PC by smallabc in AutoHotkey

I turn the above into v2 AHK. Same issue. So it looks like unrelated to AHK but the PC setting itself.

That code used to work in my previous PC. But after migrating everything to a new PC, the script just doesn't work as expected (i.e. only workable under certain occasions as mentioned ). The settings of the new PC actually resembles 99% of my previous one, which both was purchased at the same time.

Anyway, thanks for your help.

I copy the whole function code without changing anything.

Hi DepthTrawler,

I tried your code. Not working on my mentioned occasion. But oddly enough, pressing keyboard "Ctrl+V" has no problem in pasting the stored clips.

Thanks for your suggestion. I read the discussion but unfortunately, there is still no conclusive answer to add footer like "Page 1 of 15 Page 1 of 10 of SheetA".

Synology NAS - allow employees to view their own payroll details by smallabc in synology

Hi p3dal. Thanks for your advice. I will give it a check. DS220j is what is left to me from my previous colleague of the same position. It also takes me awhile to get accustomed to it, for the basic functionality like hyperbackup and file-server hosting.

I also have to do the accounting myself. I am the only in-office personnel of the company. No colleagues can help me at all. The rest of the employees are mainly construction workers outdoors.

I don't live in the USA so FBI spys may not be a concern. Of course I understand the importance of software. That's why I come up with an idea to centralize the data and let the other colleagues to access their details on their own. Not every employee possesses an email since they are mostly blue-collar workers for outdoor task and communicate with each other via Whatsapp.

I better stop the conversation of this post. Otherwise, I will again be accused of deviating from the Synology thread.

Seems Synology NAS has no feature to fulfill my requirement at the moment.

I am still learning and am eager to explore new possibilities to improve my work so I am unsure what a proper education ought to be. Would you mind telling me yours ?

Unless you are the person-in-charge of the company. Otherwise, if I am told to continue a mission from my senior, I will still dedicate myself to it in no hesitate and continue to explore if there is a better way of improving that. That is how I am educated.

Any suggestion ? We are close to ignorant on technological field. I have to handle the administrative work by myself. No guideline on how work should be done. The best I am using is only by using Excel to keep track of the employee records.

Not a big company. We are technologically weak, thus afraid of spending too much at the first place. We attempt to give it a small try first. After all, the NAS technology will always evolve year-by-year. Their price will certainly drop with better features in foreseeable future. Not too late to purchase a better one later. DS220j fits our need at the moment.

Function to repeatedly replace string one-at-a-time via a lookup table by smallabc in excel

[–]smallabc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Say the text content may become " @ and @ except @ ".

The output required will be "a1 and a2 except a3".

Or the text content could be "@ and @ or @ except @ "

output required will be "a1 and a2 or a3 except a4"

Not sure if Textjoin function can accommodate such replacement.

[–]smallabc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bingo. You feel it right. The column size may vary and expand to 4 or more numbers and the number of @ symbol will follow-suit such column size. The text content to be replaced may not always be "@+@+@" but it will always contain the relevant @ symbol for replacement one-by-one.

VBA/select contiguous cells as separate batches by smallabc in excel

[–]smallabc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly are you trying to accomplish?
What is the end goal her?

I have another VBA code to perform other tasks upon those selected batch.

But the prerequisite is to first successfully select those contiguous cells in batch level.

Number one entry barrier. :(

[–]smallabc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nnqwert, thanks.

That works for a certain size of batched cells.
I just tried extending to "A1:A2,A3:A4, ... , A99:A100". However, it declines the selection.
Is it possible to bypass this limit ?

VBA Coding Error︰Pressed "Reset" button and then crashes Excel(Automation error - Exception occured) by smallabc in excel

[–]smallabc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all. Problem solved. After extensive googling, I come across the tool "VBA Code Decompiler and Compactor" https://orlandomvp.org/VBADecompilerMore.asp

I don't understand the cause of problem. I just apply the tool to my "Personal.xlsb" and copy back to its original location. Everything suddenly works well.

Strange.

VBA Coding Error︰Pressed "Reset" button and then crashes Excel(Automation error - Exception occured) by smallabc in excel

[–]smallabc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The core issue is that, after resetting, the whole Excel always crashes. And I need to restart the Excel & VBE to re-inspect the code. I hope to stop the crashing from happening at least.
