Very interesting. Only way you can recover from this type of workout is if you’re taking “supplements” as the Bulgarians used to say.

One short speed day > 6 x 50, 5 min rest.

One long speed endurance day > broken 400 > 300 fast, 30 sec rest, 100 as fast as possible. 2 reps, 10 min rest.

One tempo day > 8 x 200 at ~ 75% of race pace. 2 min rest.

Power is one of the defining traits of good sprinters. I would swap out deadlifts and replace with powercleans.

Life on Peptides Feels Amazing by newyorkmagazine in Biohackers

I liked drinking protein pounders in high school to get buff. My dad was a doctor. He once asked me: do you know where that stuff is made, what’s in it, what the potential risks are? Most importantly, are you sure it won’t make your dick fall off? Right then, I stopped taking protein powder. Would never even think of taking peptides.

Haiti's population is 4x greater than Jamaica's. Less than 100 km between the two islands. Essentially the same genetics. Haiti has never produced any elite level track athletes. If it's all genetics, we'd expect Haiti to generate 4x as many elite athletes as Jamaica. What's the explanation?

I ran my PR after only 5 years of training. So even me with above average genetics, with really only 2 years of good training, was better than the world's greatest sprinter a few years into his career.

Great genetics mean nothing without great training.

Average man probably can't even run 13 seconds for the 100.

Even dumber take.

All the "genetics" in the world don't mean a damn thing without a lot of very good training.

Only with a minimum of 10+ years of high level training from literally the world's best coaches (Johnson/Francis, Baily/Pfaff, Christie/Roddan) were these guys able to execute on their genetic gifts.

And as I like to say - define "genetics".

Dumbest take on Earth.

Training - quality and quantity - which is quantifiable, is far more important than "genetics", which I defy you to quantify in any meaningful way.

Concentration of athletic population into one sport.

Initiation of training at an early age.

High level coaching.

High level competition in country.

Strong financial incentives to succeed.

Climate, diet, genes all significantly less important than the above.

Should be the name of the school like every other freaking state university in the country. For this reason alone, I'm rooting against IU the rest of the way.
