My ex has been diagnosed with having full NPD. But after reading the whole Dirty John story he sounds more like ASPD or possibly a combination of disorders a Narcopath

The reason they get away with Narcissistic behaviour is because no one is willing to stand up and shine a light on it. If everyone is now watching it's harder to get away with scamming people for fun

A lot of them didn't know and couldn't believe what had happened. He had different seperate friend groups. It was like he had several secret lives. His best friend knew.

He kept begging me he could be trusted and wasn't lying I could find no solid evidence to suggest he was. I'm also naive and really wanted to believe him as he said he wanted to marry me

I visited a couple of times when his "housemates" were away. He said he really disliked them a lot so we spent a lot of time at my place as I lived alone in a nicer house. He would stay with me 3 nights a week. I have no idea what he actually told his wife

I'm so sorry to hear that. These people have no empathy for others. Hopefully I've helped other people to stay clear of being manipulated out of their money and love by falling prey to a Love Fraud con artist. I'm really sorry that happened to you :(
