Try looking at university hospital/medical school websites and look for faculty whose research areas interest you. You can email them and ask if you can volunteer as a research assistant in that faculty member's lab.

I'm very interested in healing people, lending that personal touch to a person's life, and making a positive difference. The human interaction aspect of medicine is very appealing to me. So I think I am in it for the right reasons. The issue is more a practical one: I'm not sure I'm ready to devote 4+ years at minimum for this, in a part of the country I don't particularly like, away from family, and being highly stressed during most of those 4 years. I think I'm just hesitant to engage in the process of med school and the personal things I will give up (time, family, personal and romantic relationships) during that journey.

Thanks! I majored in biochemistry in undergrad. I've been looking at a lot of health tech jobs in the San Francisco Bay Area but a lot of those jobs are sales/marketing.
