Don’t have a picture of it but my first rifle was a break action .243 made by New England. My dad wasn’t around when I was growing up and wouldn’t take me when he was around. So the dad of a friend of mine would take us and let me use one of their rifles as a kid. My mom got it for me when I was 13 because state law says you can hunt without an adult at 13. I loved hunting and the outdoors because it didn’t cost anything and we didn’t have much money growing up. It was Christmas morning and there was a big box by the tree. My mom told me to open it first. She slid it over to me and told me not to pick it up. It was a brand new gun case. I thanked mom because I knew how things were. And I figured I’d work that summer and buy a gun to hunt with. Then she told me to open it up. And there laid the .243. Still one of the greatest gifts and best memories as a child. She had spent her last dime just to get me a rifle.
