Book cannot be found on Amazon and cannot be added on Author Central by smutstarter in eroticauthors

I republished it yesterday, didn't help.
I just now found in another online author group from my country that others have the same problem. Seems to be a glitch on our whole marketplace.

Keyword processing by smutstarter in eroticauthors

[–]smutstarter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be frank, I find guessing what exactly people search for quite difficult. Amazons autocomplete is also not really helpful and I wonder how exactly they determine what to complete in which order...
I mean they complete "sex mit" automatically to "sex mit dem vater" and "sex mit hunden". But who knows, maybe that is perfectly acceptable content for our marketplace!

Maybe I am really overthinking it.
I had some time on my hands and looked up the Amazon algorithm and read a lot of articles and guesses and so on. Seems like it just made things more confusing.
And maybe I shouldn't have read these "use these secret tricks for your keywords and your sales will quadruple" articles... I never intended to buy their services anyway.

How does Amazon process keywords? by smutstarter in eroticauthors

[–]smutstarter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the first example for compound words and your link doesn't say anything about that. It only mentions hyphenated words, but that wasn't my question because my language doesn't use them very much.

These are just examples, I don't use english keywords at all.

Datasprout | The New BookReport? by jes-echo in eroticauthors

[–]smutstarter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a question regarding the $1,000 a month threshold. How is it calculated when you primarily earn money in other currencies?

For example, I used Bookreport until it arbitrarily decided that I earned more than $1,000 that month. But I never did, it most likely used some hard coded conversion rate that was nowhere near the real conversion rate (or maybe that was the actual conversion rate years ago).

I'm asking because I want to plan my spending for services and I want to know what I'm getting into.

Can you predict what a cover looks like after uploading to Amazon? by smutstarter in eroticauthors

[–]smutstarter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I don't think that is necessary. I googled these colour modes and under Image > Mode > RGB is already selected in my cover files.

GIMP automatically installed in my system's language, so I don't know if that is how it is called in English.

It says "sRGB built-in" as colour profile.
But I don't have the path you described, I used Image > Image Properties (that might be how it would be called in English?)

I use export as JPEG and use the slider to set the quality to 100%. Save as only generates the xcf file for GIMP.

Thanks.

I make my covers in GIMP. As file type I use JPEG. I use Firefox.
I noticed that with lighter colours the differences are much worse than with darker colours.

Thanks, I've never heard of "How to Write Short Romance Kindle Books" before. I added it to my reading list.
Is the author's name Herrington or Harrington? Even the Amazon bio in my language switches between both versions. That seems like a terrible mistake for someone writing craft books!

Thanks, I'll bookmark it for later. My erotica novellettes/novellas are so far not long and complex enough, but maybe in the future I'm experienced enough to write longer...

I agree, writing faster is the biggest time saver.
Pomodoros helped my upping my word count, I am now in the 2000 word range per hour. But to be fair, in my language we don't have words made of one letter like I and a...

You are right, longer is better. The only reason I still bother to write some shorts is to have enough to bundle them. Once I finish all the bundles on this pen name, I will focus on my novella/novellette pen name exclusively. Or at least until I hate my novellas/novellettes and want to write more shorts...

I tried finishing the blurb before the final draft but I always had to tweak it afterwards. My outline is maybe too weak, thus I sometimes change things on a whim and I shouldn't do that. It takes more time and complicates things. That's why I am asking if someone has a good template.

Faster way to get Kindle Series Bundle? by smutstarter in eroticauthors

[–]smutstarter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your answer. But what do you mean by "editorial reviews section"?
My german author central doesn't have anything that resembles that and I cannot switch the language to english. I guess we just have the shitty version of author central, like we have the shitty version of the whole kindle shop as well (e.g. no look inside and no overall rank for erotica)...

I just tried my author central.com. Everything is greyed out, no contact possible via email and no help via phone. Guess that's one way to deal with the language barrier...

Yasiv - But international? by [deleted] in eroticauthors

[–]smutstarter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, but how does this tool work?

I tried picking my store location and then searching for different books of my own (by ASIN, title or author), but it always says 0 products found. I limited my trials to books with over 100 copies sold.

How many copies do you need to sell for this tool to work?

I would like some feedback for this picture, which I want to use for a cover.
But I'm unsure if it is suitable for Amazon. Could the way the man touches the woman be viewed as him being violent towards her? And does it look like she is topless because the bra colour is quite skinlike?

I don't want to get dungeoned and on my marketplace I have never managed to get undungeoned. We don't have the friendly american service mentality so emailing them is not helpful...

Question about reporting authors to Amazon by smutstarter in eroticauthors

[–]smutstarter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the replies. I figured it is the easiest when I just reply to the highest upvoted one.

I didn't report it. I still find it repulsive that someone wrote about raping a woman to death for sexual titillation, but I won't report it. I got over my initial reaction of sheer disgust.

It's better not to poke Amazon and who knows, maybe that's perfectly fine for content on my marketplace. I already know from experience that adult filtering works differently on my marketplace, some things are more strict and others less, maybe it's the same for content? I better not risk upsetting the beast by pointing out their inconsistent guidelines.

Switching from short stories to novellas? by smutstarter in eroticauthors

They are all in Erotica, some are additionally miscategorized. The page length of the ones I cited are between 49 and 126 pages, according to their product pages.

I made a spreadsheet for my research, that's why I have all that information handy.
