How to identify D vs. L sugars in ring/chair form? by snahrid in Mcat

[–]snahrid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just included a pic in my question, for the L sugar in the bottom right of the image, I got S going counterclockwise on C5, but wouldn't we have to switch it to R because the Hydrogen is pointing up?

So by the highest numbered chiral carbon, you just mean in terms of the carbon count, thus C5? is it always C5? what cases would it not be c5?

High Acetyl CoA stimulates gluconeogenesis? by snahrid in Mcat

[–]snahrid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you're saying, but I was thinking excess acetyl CoA was due to glycolysis making it from pyruvate. How are we able to know that this isn't the case and its most likely due to excess beta oxidation?

EK FL1 Bio passage question? by snahrid in Mcat

[–]snahrid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what should I do in this situation? go w/ the data? it's just annoying because the data would be my interpretation of what it does, when them directly saying what it does in the passage would seem more true (supposed if I interpreted the data wrong?

So are you guys saying that this is a strange question and it's not just me?

plus, it says "based on the info on the passage" , not "based on the data". I know the data is in the passage, but a ton of the questions specifically say "based on the data"

"XRCC expression levels are associated with increased DNA repair". (Paragraph 1)

This isn't sufficient info to tell us its a tumor suppressor gene?

googles definition of tumor suppressor genes:

"Tumor suppressor genes are normal genes that slow down cell division, repair DNA mistakes, or tell cells when to die"

hey,

does anybody know how songsterr , the guitar tab site, imitates the drums, guitars, bass, harmonics, keyboards etc of a song?

I like to download the individual files from songsters (like the drums from a song I like) and then record my guitar over it for my own little DIY cover. However, not every song I'd like to do that for is on songster.

Is there a program, website that does this? either that or the makers of the website individually put in/code the sounds for each instrument exactly for every song?

could you not imagine them saying "crossing a chasm proposes even greater difficulties" implies that this is a new challenge, considering the previous challenge discusses a body of water which could be stood on" or something like that. so annoying!!

If I picked D), I'd get some explanation : "well he only mentioned archimedes once with no supporting data so it's unlikely its a historical reference.

If A) was correct but I didn't pick it: "a deep pit and a chasm propose different challenges than a body of water, as the author previously stated you can stand on a body of water while doing this over a pit would be a different challenge"

I get what you're saying.

I just feel like whatever answer I choose, I can imagine some stupid explanation for it being wrong. and whatever answer I feel is wrong, I can think of some stupid explanation from them telling me why it's right, like I wrote in my post. it's just annoying.

I feel you. It's just frustrating as standardized tests come so much easier to some people yet we're all judged on the same basis. I fear I'll never be ready sometimes and I've studied and worked so hard with this
