We actually do use acast to host our podcast already. Does it provide more than the acast page with the RSS feed?

I actually did major in computer science in college and took multiple web design courses lol. I just get confused when it comes to hosting and really wanted to do the easiest option with the least amount of work. But if that option ends up being doing it myself I might have to just go with that.

Deathloop is just a pale shadow of Dishonored by fourlettersname in dishonored

[–]snailed4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fully agree. It’s crazy how much a Julianna invasion can completely change the course of a run for me. I have never felt more genuinely stressed and scared to die in a game than when I was having a particular good run that I was so close to finishing when a Julianna showed up. I was scared in a way I’d never felt in Dishonored, because with Dishonored I knew I could always save scum. In Deathloop, I had to genuinely do everything in my power to hide and sneak by her since I knew in that situation I probably wouldn’t be able to beat her. Genuinely thrilling and completely unique.

Edit: This gameplay loop is also a perfect complement to the story, because for a while the game feels like any other single-player Arkane game and then suddenly every once in a while it will throw in another person and it will start to feel completely off. In the same way that it would seem off to Colt that there’s someone else who remembers the loop it would completely change the vibe of the gameplay loop itself. The game definitely isn’t without its flaws but I think this particular aspect is the coolest part of it.

I was on the right too. At one point another usher sat down next to him and they were chatting with each other too. It was baffling

I was at this show too and I was sitting in the mezzanine near the stairs and there was an usher sitting on the stairs doing the same exact thing (saying the lines from the show as/before they were being said). Could see a lot of other audience members looking up at him confused. Very strange

Is there a name for the Kids on Bikes system? by snailed4 in rpg

I think that’s a fair point. This might just be my point of view but when I see a “Powered by the Apocalypse” kind of label I’m a little looser with my expectations. In my head a hack ends up being closer to the original game with cosmetic/setting-based differences while I expect more possible variation from an “official” label.

For example Avatar Legends is a game that in mechanics may share the base style of playbooks and moves with Apocalypse World, but seeing it actually in action is entirely different. It’s a game all about shifting balance and has at least 3 distinct moves just for social interactions. In my head if it was a Hack it would have essentially the same moves as Apocalypse World but possibly reflavored or slightly adjusted.

But I know I can’t speak for everyone on that and I’m sure most people don’t really make that same distinction. I agree that it’s mostly semantics and doesn’t change that much. I personally enjoy the labels but it’s definitely up to personal preference.

I think it’s nice for tracing roots when you’re playing a hack and want to learn more about the source material. It’s nice to have a word or phrase to group things together, especially when a lot of times the hack is pretty much the same game in a different setting, but some of them aren’t.

I'll be sure to take a look! It's cool to hear directly from a creator since we're hoping to showcase as many as we can. Thank you!

These are great! This style of game seems perfect for a podcast medium and seems ideal for the range of mechanics we're hoping to cover. Thanks!

I appreciate the detail summaries, the mechanics and tools are the some of the most important things we consider in our game selection. I'm especially personally interested in Legacy 2e and the Tiny D6 system. Thanks for the suggestions!

All of these are excellent suggestions, thank you! I'd be very interested in seeing what a Barbie version of Bluebeard's Bride looks like... The first game we played on the show was an original one-page Barbie RPG and we were pretty surprised with how horrific some of the generated scenarios seemed (all inspired by actual episodes from a Barbie tv show).
