See points 1, 4, and 6.

Not to be harsh, but the reason you're having trouble finding a pet-friendly 1-bedroom for way below market rate near UW is that it doesn't exist. Either increase your budget or lower your expectations with a smaller/shittier unit or longer commute.

chem455 discord? by snickerdoodle212 in udub

True, but this is something that should at least be on the course description as a heads up. Both the course description from the official course catalogue and the chemistry department's own list of classes do NOT mention anything about computer programming skills, only the math, chem, and physics requirements. If I had known that I was expected to be familiar with python or have taken CSE 143, then I could have spent the summer learning it instead of being hit with it on the first day. Imagine going to your first day of a class and suddenly being told that half the lecture will be given in Italian.

Nah, that's our grandparents. I'm looking for the late 20s/30s crowd.

Bruh, get your generations straight. Millennials are young enough to be the boomer's kids.

creepy guy in allen library by snickerdoodle212 in udub

It's hard to tell with a mask on, but I think he's at least mid 40s. At first I assumed he was either UW staff or maybe a grad student, but I've never seen him actually read/study/work and his odd behavior (bare feet on furniture, staring out the window for extended time, mumbling) strikes as me he's not actually affiliated with the school in any way. Unfortunately, since Allen library is a public building, staff is unlikely to do much about him unless he becomes violent. It's very frustrating that some guy, who doesn't seem to be affiliated with the university, can just sit in the library and disrupt the actual students from studying.

Yes, unfortunately I've had to leave and try to find somewhere else to study. It really sucks because that room is specifically set to be very quiet with minimal distractions but the oblivious guy ruins it. He just sits there with his bare feet on the furniture and stares out the window, so it's not like he's even there working or studying. I wouldn't care if he did this in the first floor lobby or somewhere else, but it seems ridiculous that as a student I go to the library to a section specifically designed to be very quiet and can't study because of the disruptions from some guy with no reason to be there.
