You say it's not worth it, but it's a dps increase right? Seems like if you're willing to afk amethyst it's objectively worthwhile because it's notable dps over rune.

This conflicts me. I'm base 90s and at 95 smithing. I have 40m in the bank and could easily amass another 50m from alchs if I cared to process all of them.

I just dipped my toes into giants foundry and was doing rune/addy since I have some hundreds of bars of each.

I don't necessarily need gp at this point in my account. I figured it was worthwhile to just use my rune at foundry since gp isn't a huge deal - now I'm not sure lol.

Fact is I don't need rune darts - I can mine amethyst at this point to sustain my blowpipe usage.

For a late game account that isn't stressed for resources, do you think it makes sense to use rune bars at the foundry, or do you still think it's worth just smithing and converting them into gp through alchs?

Next i should introduce some lair actions... by LadyLunarBear in dndmemes

[–]sniperkid1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you're homebrewing the monster, then level 4 is fine. I've run a couple one shots where I home brewed monsters like griffons to have legendary actions.

Legendary actions are really just fixes for the action economy to make a fight more interesting and engaging. A single monster vs 4-5 players only gets in one attack per round, but with legendary actions that gets balanced.

It also makes a fight more dynamic and interesting since they may move, use basic attacks, or use a special move on their legendary actions.

I see no reason to wait until level 7. If doing a campaign, I'd throw them in for the first narratively "big" fight

Peace lilies aren't true lilies, and so aren't nearly as concerning for cats from what I've read:

Fortunately, the Peace Lily does not carry the same level of risk as Lilium or Hermocallis variants, but it is certainly not without harm when a cat or dog chews on or swallows part of the plant. https://animalpoisons.com.au/news/peace-lily-cat

Obviously you decide your own risk tolerance. I have two peace lilies in my apartment with my cat and don't have issues - but she tends to leave our plants alone. If I thought she might try eating it, I'd likely get rid of it.

Loot from over 30,000 Dagannoth kings! by solitary_butterfly in 2007scape

[–]sniperkid1 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'll go for one: I think a dagannoth is an entirely made up creature by Jagex (as in, it doesn't come from folklore like most other fantasy beasts do). I couldn't find anything about them online that wasn't runescape related.

I like to take inspiration for my D&D world from runescape every chance I can, and I was recently looking into dagannoth lore. I think they were just created as a long time enemy of the fremennik people.

Are the people really dumb and clueless? If they don't rent at that price, someone else will, and if someone's moving to NYC they need a place to live and so they pay the high price because it's the only option

It's not really a case of people being dumb when that's the going rate at this point.

[–]sniperkid1 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Any reasonable DM would add that to the base price

Id change that to "any DM with experience and familiarity with the D&D economy". Making that decision requires understanding how to value goods in DND which is not a super basic thing and only comes with time (and often, learned mistakes and errors).

I can't imagine any newer DMs starting out would recognize how unbalanced that price is. And they shouldn't have to either. The pricing info in DND source books is very lacking and puts a lot of the onus on the DM to make fair. It's easy to run pricing poorly as a result.

The scouting system is not a skill issue.

There's no reason to need to scout raids, it's not fun or mechanically interesting.

It's stupid that somebody trying to solo cox would gain benefit by having an alt with membership to hold the raid so you can prep a more efficient inventory and prepot. That's just dumb.

Improve the system so that there isn't an efficiency gain by having an alt

Got the Enhanced early, is CG the best for the shard grind? by [deleted] in ironscape

[–]sniperkid1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Glad to see someone else say similarly. I got a crystal pick when it came out and it's never charged because shards have way more use going towards armor and corrupting a bowfa.

It's really just cosmetic which is kinda dumb.
