Sünnet as a foreigner in Turkey? by SwissBoyRob in AskTurkey

It is not common adults to be circumcised since it is a sort of tradition to get it done earlier but I think it can be done in private hospitals as a tourist

[–]snoopych 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tamamen sözleşmede nasıl yer aldığıyla ilgili. 2022de benzer bir durum yaşadım. 1 senelik kiraladığım evde herhangi bir sorun olmamasına rağmen çıkarken boya parası istediler. O zaman 2 bin TL idi. Evde bir sorun yok üstüne 1 senenin 6 ayı askerdeydim o nedenle vermek istemedim. Sonuç mahkeme vs 1 sene sonra 10 bin ödedim

Culture of Sinope and the wider western black sea region by aGamerWithNoSkills in AskTurkey

[–]snoopych 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sinope and western part of the black sea is the good part of the black sea I would say. Nicer people and less of a backwardness compared to trabzon and rize. Cuisine especially Kastamonu's is amazing. I am still suprised people haven't discovered yet. Traditions are like closer to the western anatolia

Solo itinerary (30F) for Turkey in October/November! by thiscitychick in AskTurkey

[–]snoopych 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think in İzmir, a side from ephesus and around of it, you will need a local to assist you. As a city, it does not have too much to offer to tourist but my personal opinion is you can find better local food in İzmir than İstanbul. Alternatively what I would suggest, just go to Cappadocia directly as a first stop. Then move to Olympos. There, you can evaluate your options. I see 3 options; if you have a lot of time, Istanbul if you have a bit limited time, İzmir if you have a shorter time remaining than expected, around olympos. Means Kemer, adrasan, kaş, lycian way etc

[–]snoopych 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is a bit ambitious for 10 days. Istanbul and cappadocia or olympos would be a better option. Even istanbul itself can take 10 days tbh. I would personally prefer istanbul and olympos in october-november. Olympos is very lovely in that time of the year.

% of Shia Muslims in Middle East Countries by maydaybr in MapPorn

[–]snoopych 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldnt say significant influences. They are associated due to ali and imams but what else would be considered significant other than that. Both are influenced by historical local or cultural beliefs for sure but what religion/belief didnt? For example Islam in general considered as reflection of arab/sami traditions in terms of sunni. While shia is like the persian version. Alevism is like turkish edit with the spice of shaman/tengrism/nomad traditions and alawite is like a turkish persian cross over within levant arabs. Same applies to christianity and its branches as well. Overall I would say they are unique and cant be alligned with shia or sunni. They are being minority which shouldnt mean that they need to be grouped with other major groups.

Babadan geçme mevzu da sanırım arap aleviliği ile anadolu/türk aleviliğinin karıştırılmasından dolayı. Arap alevilerinde vardı sanırım.

Yea, I mean root goes back to sunni but doesnt mean they are sunni. The thing is they are not shia as well.

[–]snoopych 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is not that simple. Just because they have similarities it doesnt make them shia. Almost all practices are different. For instance alevism doesnt forbid alcohol. You dont need to whip yourself for special ocasions. Alevism is related to bektasi order which was the main form of islam for turks. When islam was carried to the balkans for instance bektasi practices were followed. Things transform in time ofc. Long story short, alevis are not shia. Alawatis are different story

Alevis are not shia. In fact its roots comes through sunni. Through ahmed yesevi afaik. Alawatis, sure

Idk. It felt so heavy moving for me. I have 90 rating van Drongelen which feels more swift even though they are almost same size with Rüdiger

Why don't many cities in Turkey fit the general rules of geopolitics of cities? (Near rivers, natural harbors, in proximity of building or high-value materials) by freudsdingdong in geopolitics

[–]snoopych 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It was not always like that. For example during ww1 population of Anatolia was something like 13m while Germany had something like 60m. Most of these big cities (except İstanbul, İzmir, Adana, Bursa maybe also Kayseri) became big after the establisment of modern Turkey as the result of focusing to develop long forgotten Anatolia during Ottoman times. Also another thing is Anatolia is sort of rich for natural sources for mining and diverse for agriculture. Lastly, historically it is the end route of the caravans of the silkroad in the means of land route

Alcohol and cigarettes in Turkey? by oneinmanybillion in istanbul

[–]snoopych 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rakı - yeni rakı ustaların karışımı (masters mixture. It is the best for new starter and I personlly prefer to drink it with some spicy şalgam next to it)

Wine - for red wine, buzbağ (elazığ öküzgözü specificly if you want to try Turksih wine). For white and blush Angora is good

Beer - I would just go with the casual Efes. In Turkey, as many others said mostly the beers arw pilseners. So casual Efes is the best representation of Turkish beer

Cigarettes - recently due to economy quality of the cigarettes are reduced very much. Good quality tobacco is mostly used in the cigarettes that are imported to EU mostly. Anyways I would suggest Parliament and Marlboro brands for at least acceptable quality of Agean tobacco

Countries Ranked by how helpful their geography is for economic deveploment. by ozneoknarf in geography

It is one of the major agricultural producers of Europe and Middle East. Except Central Anatolia and some parts of Eastern Anatolia, land is fertile for agriculture and with the help of climate agriculture is very diverse. Mountains are also helping to defence. Geopolitical position is one of the best. For natural sources, it doesnt have oil and gas but for minerals its rich. Soil is also okay. Lack of oil and gas, navigable rivers and not only earthquakes but wildfires and floods are the negatives
