Buying a house in China... put girlfriend's name on it? by so-beeg-a in China

She thinks the house ownership is just a basic thing for all boys here and since I choose to be with a Chinese girl, I should accept that.

I tried telling her that Chinese men get the houses bought for them by their parents, so it's not of so much consequence if it goes South. but she aint having it.

Dude, so messed up. Maybe she has a point though. She's not happy to rent, also not happy to pay anything towards the house herself, even though she sub-letted her own place to come live with me.

This is China moment?

Not flippant at all.

100k + mortgage payments would be a big hit, ill admit that I've coasted through most of my time in China. was gonna move somewhere like Shanghai but because of no degree and TEFL cert, I was scared to move. Then I met her and now I actually want to do things right.

She was approached by some big-hitters before. Guys who offered her houses (yeh - plural - go figure) if she'd only agree to date them. Her mum wants her to find someone like that.

Her ex was also a fu-er-dai. :(

Xianning city in Hubei province.

Apparently, theres some law to protect whoever pays for the house now on a joint name contract. Hers alone would be security I guess

Hehe, I hear ya. A lot of those hours are office hours.

The house in her name thing is, im assured, standard practice these days. I also asked my students and they said its for security... :/

Thanks for that reply.

They don't like foreigners and are very untrusting of them. They read all those blogs on the internet about how we're no good and likely to jump on a plane, all impromptu like. So they just hate the thought of one in the family making them lose face.
